The walleye bite has been as slow as Ive seen it all year. Covered alot of ground lately and tried many techniques only to come up empty. So started chasing the bass instead and found them to be much more receptive to my offerings. Basically the rip rap shorelines have been producing really good numbers of Smallies and Largemouth bass with top sizes running up to 18 inches. Top tactics include light jigs 1/16 to 1/8th tipped with leeches. The smaller leeches work best and most of the jumbos are not available at the bait shops anyway. 4″ White Flukes twitched tight to the rocks has produced the nicer fish. Rattle traps are also bringing in good numbers of bass including those kamakazi whities! Just chase the school and cast to the whites with rattle traps. Northern Pike are also being caught in the same areas on rattle traps. Pike sizes ran up to about 33 inches with most being of the 25 + inch variety. The water temp has dropped a good 5 degrees in the last few days and we got a good amount of rain here today. Go get em!
