I’m sure one of your local guys will lead you to a place (Bob’s, GM, etc…).

I can tell you though if you are using that bait for a flipping/ pitching “VERTICAL” presentation the fish probably won’t care as long as you match the profile and color. What I mean is don’t let it get you down if you have to use a Brush Hog (or equivalent creature) in a tournament instead of your Berkely creature. If you drop it on the fishes head it’ll eat it… .

so what you are trying to say is that will work vertically. I usually use a brush hog but I saw this and knew it would work.

Exactly- What I am saying is if you have fish going which are eating creature baits on the fall (vertical) it should not matter whether it’s a brush hog or similar creature bait…

BTW- those are good fish to have going… .

That is a berkly product which is far superior to a brush hog. The fish will hod this longer than the zoom bait. Especialy pressured fish. Not that I know anything about pressured fish.

This is just a guess, but I’m pretty sure that brush hogs have caught about a million more fish than power hogs. Like the vast majority of all their soft plastic lines, Zoom just makes a better product. Although I do agree with D-Nort in that as long as you put it on the fishes nose they’d eat just about anything.

excellent product, but I just want to try new things. Thanks though.

personally, i think everyone is right. All of the baits that are designed catch fish. I don’t think there are magic baits or whatever, but if you put your mind to a bait and its something you BELIEVE will work, you’re gonna slay them on it. I have a ton of plastic baits but honeslty i can catch the same bass i would have caught on a brush hog on a tube, or a worm, or a craw. It doesn’t really matter i don’t think. Sometimes i choose baits to match the hatch like craws for fishing rocks (and other areas but mainly rock) Worms and brushogs ect for weeds and all over. It depends on my mood. But basically i catch fish on any bait i feel like throwing at any time. I think what matters is profile, and color. You have to decide what size and profile of your lure for the conditions. You have (this is what i believe) to pic a color that will represent something natural but if the water is dirty, common sense might tell you to try brighter colors, or dark colors for that silohette (sp?) look..I have confidence baits, but as long as the bait is durable and the right color/profile for what i am doing, i’ll throw it. as far as hard baits go…now thats a totally different situation where some conpanies truely make a better product. Personally, i don’t think you can go wrong with a piece of soft plastic!

I suppose you can believe that the zoom bait is the same or superior. I am not knocking D-Nort one bit. I am just saying that you will get more bites on a powerhog than a brushhog. Its kind of like saying any Senko is the same. They all look alike but what happens in the water can have extraordinary differences.

I’m not really sure how you’ve come to that conclusion other than maybe it came under the influence of Berkley’s advertising about power bait in general. From a factual standpoint brush hogs are mentioned a lot more than powerhogs in the winning gear notes from national tournaments. And I think guys that fish to put food on the table would tend to use the bait that gets the most bites.

Got to say I’m with JC on this one. I agree you’ll see the term Brushhog used more than powerhawg but it is kinda generic term and doesn’t mean zoom brand. I have seen fish hold on to power bait and YUM hawgs long enough I’g get tired of trying to shake them off. Don’t have that problem with other brands such as zoom.

i don’t like wooly hawgs at all! don’t know about power hawgs? i have no probloms having fish hold onto a brush hawg. I don’t know how a bass angler could get tired of catching fish i don’t see why you would want to shake a bass of any way?

I fish both Zoom & Power Hawgs. When there’s $$$ on the line, I go with Power Hawgs. That extra scent & action goes a long way in my book.

I think the one thing that hurts the Power Hawg is the lack of color selection. Let’s face it, there’s always going to be times when overall color or extra flake will make the difference. That’s when the Zoom baits shine. They have TONS of colors to choose from.

You’ll always see guys pimping Zoom baits, that’s why they have that big red & yellow oval on their tourney shirts. It’s all about promotion.

Look, I am not arguing, and I don’t offer opionion. I don’t read Bassmaster mag because I get frustrated with inaccurate information. You can ready any of my posts and find that brading goes no where. Its all about results. Thats why I joined Hair Club for men. I am not only a member…..

I was talking about during tournament practice time. I don’t want to stick too many fish.

No offense taken JC. I understand.

I said if your drop a creature bait on a fishes head he’ll eat it if they’re eating creature baits. I never said anything about the fish holding onto it until your arm wears out… . Besides, there are different ways to get a fish to hold onto a bait other than what the factory offers.

Did I mention I don’t flip Zoom or Berkely?

Fish will always hold on to any brand longer with a few ounces of Megastrike, or so I heard .

DNort, can you get me a good price on some Lake Fork craw tubes. They have become my new favorite flippin bait

I’ve had bass swim around the boat holding baits doused with Kick-n-bass. I like the Crawdad scent myself.

I think the Berkley and Zoom creatures also have a little different action too. I have and use both, though I do use the Zoom more often. I like the Zoom colors better.

Yup, the scent makes a big difference in how long a fish will hold or even eat a bait. In my boat we’ve done experiments where bass will hold scented plastic even if you’re trying to pull it away from the fish. With the unscented plastic (same color/shape/plastic consistency) the fish will drop it as soon as they feel you (or even before).
