I heard that they work pretty good so i picked a couple up. I have tried them a few times with absolutley no luck. Has anyone had any luck with these? If so how exactly did you go about using them without giving away too many secrets.

I have caught a few fish on them, but nothing to write home about. In fact, two weeks ago I fished a tournament with a B.A.S.S. pro whos main sponsor was Rad Lures (Chatterbait) and he threw a horny toad all day. Seriously!

I normally throw them wherever I throw a spinnerbait. Most people will say you can throw them where you throw a swim jig… but that’s not true for me. I just can’t get it to come though any vegetation. I haven’t tried their new “weedless” model, but I have a hard time believing anything with a blade on the front of it is going to pull through grass, cabbage, etc… very good.

Mack, I thought of picking some up the other day, but held off. I might have to grab a few next time I’m at the store

I have only been using these since May, but I have tried them on many different types of water with equal success. I have been able to use them where it would be impossible, or very frustrating to try to use a spinnerbait. When you stop feeling the wobble I just pull the rod like I want to set the hook on a fish and the sharp blade ussually cuts right through the weeds and you can resume your retrieve. I have caught a few fish using it in the slop also. You just have to really rip it across the top. My only complaint is their price. GM sells them for $7.99 I think. If you are lucky you might be able to find them for $5.99. I think BPS’s might even have them priced at $4.99, but I have heard they tend to sell out in a few hours. I like the lure and I have used it shallow, deep, clear and murky waters, rocks, and in vegetation. I have a few colors that I have only been able to find down south that have been phenominal. I will be picking a few more of those up on my next bussiness trip. Good luck. I had one pro tell me that you can’t fish it wrong.

I like em. Not the end all be all of lures, but they have their place.

I have only used the Gambler version so far.

I have also tried fishing it like a swim jig and i didnt have any sucess. I have never tried it in clear water because i only have the chartuess color. Maybe its just the color if some of you are having sucess because i know there are fish where im throwing it. Anyone else have any sucess?

I have only used white, but I would think Chart would work too. Seems to have worked in dark or semi clear water.

I obtained some Chatterbaits this Spring and whole heartedly believe they have their place. I fish them almost anywhere I otthrow a spinnerbait. The basic straight in retrieve works, but experiment with erratic retrieves and strolling it in like you would a swim jig. Another situation where they work is in current in the same sort of places you would throw a crankbait. I have also found that the stock trailers seem to be the best. You do not want too much bulk with the trailer. You can also add a trailer hook if you think you are getting short strikes. These are pretty simple baits.

I’ve used them once, and got a strike that’s about it for me, gotta play with them more though.

i’m truely not a fan of these baits. We were pounding them on swim jigs today, decided i would try a chatterbait to build some confidence but didn’t even have a strike or follow. I love the action but they just don’t attract fish. I’d rather fish an “ordinary” swim jig and feel confident and just pound the snot out of the bass!

I’m not impressed with them. They seem really neat the way they vibrate all the way in on the cast, but I’m not having any luck with them. Maybe I suck as a fisherman!

i think they are overrated, overpriced garbage. I haven’t even been fortunate enough to have a northern bite mine off yet. I think it actually scares fish away .

i know this topic is old but i had to give my 2 cents..One of my friends that fishes team supreme, its all he fishes. literally. he throws it all day. defintely not how you use that lure. Personally, i’d rather throw a spinnerbait or swim jig. the chatterbait is overrated.i caught a few pike on it up north, but after no bass after some good amount of use, i threw it into snags until i finally got a tree bass and lost it. about the only use i have for it..

yeah nick, i found out, awhile back a buddy and he walked into dicks. but i keep buyin them but when the first i got, the blade cut my line, but i need to throw them, they seem better than the real chatter bait.
