I was fishing in my friends pond in his backyard today for some bluegill. The Bite was on! They were just crushing the tiny spoon i was using. I ended up catching a 9 incher that weighed 7 oz, not to mention tons of others.
I ended up catching a small one though. Andy laughed and said, “Looks like u caught bait.” I thought it was a good idea so i clipped it’s tail and threw it out on a hook and bobber. The little fella had been pulling my bobber around for a while so i didn’t pay much attention. After a while i looked over and asked Andy where my bobber was. Just then i saw my line start running and my pole (i was still bluegill fishing) sliding through the grass tward the pond. I dropped my bluegill rod and grabbed the pole. I set the hook and pulled in this massive smallmouth. It was 20 inches and weighed 3 lbs. 14 oz. They had wanted that pig out of the pond for years because it kept eating their baby trout. They said just throw it in the weeds but i couldn’t kill a bass, especially not one that big. So we filled up a bucket of water and took the bass down to the bridge in Goose Island. I put it in the water and she swam off slowly. I really hope she lives and spawns next spring, because that would be good genetics on the system. I’ll post pics when i get the film developed.
