Aaron, the smallies will eat any color, just as a largemouth would. Try to base it on the type of forage you have and especially where you will be fishing. For me however, i like to use crawdad colors like brown and black and greenish when fishing for smallies as pretty much a standard. I caught several tonight on a brownish colored stickbait. baits i would recomend would be craw colored cranks, tubes, and stick baits. swim jigs work good for smallies too.

Don’t overlook white. Not pearl white, but the plain old fashioned milk white.

Haywood got a lesson not too long ago about the difference between pearl white & plain white.

It may very well be overrated, but I remember a certian Jeremy from Palo IA. getting his handed to him by a little white grub on many occasions…

Who is this idiot? He needs a serious fishing lesson. I might even have to break out that “German” bait I have been throwing as of late.

    JC,

Hmmmm! What color was that _____ you were throwing last
Friday night? And there was some whining about it
being the last one, when a toothy critter ate it
    My white chatterbait worked

White is over rated? And here I was about to order a few
    of those ______s.

Did you ever find out if they are still available?

P.S. I have been working on that September issue, and
given it ends up at that spot close to my home, I
will have some excellent info to work with

White is only good in one thing, T-SHIRTS. They keep you alot cooler in the hot summer sun then the dark ones.

    Simply as black or white!
I am am a strong believer in these two colors up here on the upper miss. Straight black swim jigs have been fantastic as of late for me!
