Looking for recommendations on where to stay in Fort Madison. Will be down there for 10-12 days for the Stren tournament.

Any advice on where to fish is also welcome!

I have a room booked for the Citco B.A.S.S. Northern Tour at the tournament lodging headquarters which is the Iowan Motor Lodge. If I recall the prices are VERY reasonable. On the map it appears to be about 3 miles from the launch (that is if they’re going out of the same launch). I don’t have a room for the Stren there yet. I’m hoping Jones-in is on that .

    Dave,

Thanks, I filled out a deal on their web site this morning requesting pricing and availability. Haven’t heard back yet, so will probably call in the morning if I don’t hear from them by then.

The Stren is going out of Captian Kirk’s Marina, which I believe is the same place you’re going out of for BASS.

I’m sure Jim has got it all taken care of. We’ll have to meet up and tip a few cold ones. My travel partner drives a Fuji Film boat, so we’re pretty easy to spot and we usually have cold beers near by.

The Iowan is ok. It is setup well for boats with lots of rooms on the outside. There is a Super 8 and a Comfort Inn on that side of town also but the 8 does not have any rooms facing the outside. Comfort Inn is the same way,all inside rooms but it is a new motel with nice pool with lots of parking. The Iowan should hace plenty of rooms and it has an indoor pool also. There are a few smaller places but nothing is very close to the ramp.

Thanks guys. We’re booked at the Iowan. Hard to argue with the rate and parking for boats. Not to mention the registration meeting is there.

Now all that’s left is to go catch some fish. Leaving today to start practicing down in La Crosse.

All the tournies will be out of the same ramp.Capt Kirks is a good place to cool off and grab a cheese burger and cold one. I was out last nite and it was tough on the north end. Not much grass up north. Lots of boats here this weekend with the BASS weekenders here.I think they have 100 plus boats here for that.
