Where did the fish go? Went out with M. Watson last night and I got skunked for the first time on the Miss.. Mike did catch 3 nice ones, all around 15 inches . All on lipless crankbaits. Some color and size I didn’t have. You can bet I will be at the Mountain finding that bait. I didn’t have that color, so I didn’t have the fish. I threw everything that I had . We tried lots of spots with little success. Tons of tiny minnows in the river right now. All bass caught by Mike had pot bellies, probably from gorging on the clouds of baitfish Towards evening the fish were busting them on the surface. I would bet that a topwater night bite would be happening right now. I’ll try again tonight hopefully with better results. Does anyone know what type of minnows those are? Small gills? Sorry no pics, nothing worth wasting film on. Better nights to come, I’m sure. See you on the water tonight. Jesse

It was a tough night for us last night, but I still had a good time. Lack of success can be directly attributed to not being on the water near as much as I would like lately. We ran around and hit a few spots and see if we could maybe put something together. The only thing we found was the few fish we caught were in current and near rock. That might be totally different than others found, but that was what the case was for us. Blue perch and myself also got out last week and got a first for blue perch. He caught his first dogfish He found out how well they fight and how hard they are on tackle I got a pic of that and a pic of one of the 3 bass from last night. The bass we caught all had bulging bellies so they are definitely eating good

Hey jesse, its ok, i had a tough time last night too. I was in the gravel pit with my friend carson. I think its just that it gets fished too hard. I mean we fished a bay and then left across the slough, in the next hour, we saw over 5 people go thru and fish that spot! its insane. thats why i fish goose island and load up on them like i did today. I got 14 keepers with a hog to keep me happy. Caught a ton of 10-13 inchers too. great time with swim jigs and brush hogs. Also, i know what you mean with the minnows. were you down near 7th street? I saw a ton of action there last night waiting to get the boat on but they wouldn’t hit the swim jig i was chuckin. Maybe white bass? Still they wouldn’t take my offering.. well better luck next time..
