just wanted to give a quick update of how i did on the river yesterday. All in all, it was a good day spent on the water. I started really poorly in the stump fields south of goose island, and in about 3-4 hours of fishing i only had 3 bass and a northern 1 bass being keeper size to show for it. I moved up north of goose to some of the spots i am more familiar with and started whacking some nice fish. I found out that swim jigs were not working too well yesterday for whatever reason. The bait that caught all the fish except for the northern and a dink was a red shad hummer hog (brush hog) 4″. I caught about 8 fish off of one area, 3 were good keepers. i lost a couple key fish also but no hawgs to cry about loosing. i also caught a dogfish which i thought was a 5 lber when i set the hook. most fish are hanging around drop offs around eel grass or cut banks. a coulple of the fish were caught on wood too. the biggest fish was about 17 inches that had a twin and they are the 2 fish in the picture. I also caught a couple 15s and a couple 14’s. it was the first day in quite a while where i haven’t caught a fish over 18 inches, but i was able to pull thru with a nice limit after a poor start to my day. Just another summer day where plastics save the day
    good luck,
    Cade

    Cade,
Nice report big guy….How was the water conditions…haven’t been out down there for over a month. Also, wondering what you’re doing this Friday/Saturday. In need of some guiding and maybe a fishing partner for our annual family bass tourney.

Cade, I predict you are going to be a famous fishing pro some day! Really!

How are you rigging your brush hogs?

Thanks for the report Cade. Nice fish. Can I please ask you to share how you are fishing the brush hog? On a carolina style rig, or on a jig, or on a hook with a weight built on the hook, etc? Fish it slow, steady, jerk, etc. Thanks. In other words I’m not much of a bass fisherman so teach me.
    Thanks, Bill

Cade, nice report as usual, but as far as Tagger goes you might have to show him a spot or two and catch them for him as well. He’s a walleye guy hard-up to catch a fish that fights back.

Shane, I think you may have him mixed up with me. By the way, have you heard rumors about Cade trying to lip 15 lb northerns? Check out his post about 15 lb green fish.
    Thanks, Bill

As long as I (we)finish on top I don’t care who catches the fish… Cade, how about some bonus incentives for this Saturday’s tourney?
