I don’t know what else to title this post. It was an awesome night of fishing. Awesome 1-1/2 hour i should say. I was fishing this spot last night and caught 4 keepers as well, but tonight outdid itself! the spot is a bank just past a weedy flat that comes to a point. The current comes off the point and i am guessing there is some serious bait balled up about 3 feet down. The waters only 4-5 feet deep but the fish are using this area big time. I was casting a bc’s gill swim jig with a white twister for a trailer and i caught 2 fish, 1 keeper in front of my uncle who came down to watch me. He and his wife were just pulling out in their car after watching me when i yelled to them to stop because i had a pig on the line. The fish jumped clean out of the water twice and my heart was pumping, for a fish did this to me and got off last night. luckily, i got it to the shore. Although it was a pig, i still swung it in, for fear of loosing it if i waited to long trying to lip it that it would get off. turned out to be a great 20 inch fish. It was beautiful. She was spawned out and skinny, only a little over 3-1/2 lbs, but it was a great fish. Took a pic and let her go. my uncle left so i no longer had a camera man, but the fish kept coming. They were hitting my bait on nearly every single darn cast! it was absolutely phenomenal. i caught a couple 14-15 inch fish, and then i got another good fish on my line. this one fought hard but didn’t jump like the first one. I didn’t relize how big she was ’til i saw her mouth coming up to shore. I swung her in and yelled! it was another 20 inch fish! coming in at 3-1/2 lbs. what a great night! i caught several more good healthy largemouth and 2 good smallies, and i lost 2 fish on the jump. i missed a couple too after i switched to a rattle trap late in the night but i wasn’t too upset after such a great time. ended the night with 9 fish, 7 keepers, and 1 good sized sauger that sluggishly took my rattle trap. all in all, an amazing night!!!!!!!!!!!

if they are jumping off all the time try keeping your rod tip lower to the water when you are reeling them in. it puts less pressure on them to swim towards the surface and jump. nice fish

But that would take all the fun out of it for Cade. He likes it when the fish put on a big show and people around him watch the fight. He’s prepping himself for BassCenter in a few years!

thanks will-eye…Kris B, no i actually was keeping the rod tip down as much as possible. I’m not that stupid . even with the rod down you can’t hardly control their minds and what they want to do. You can bring them up but you can’t make them sink! Just wanted to let you know that i wasn’t doing ANYTHING wrong, just the fish got up and let go.

heres a pig from last night above…20-1/2 inches: only 4.1 lbs though…
