I am fishing a small club bass tournament on Pool 9 in a week. Not having been to the river for several years, I would like to get some ideas on where to fish. Please PM me if you have some thoughts. I’m not asking for your honey hole, but any assistance is appreciated.

To make it easy, Head into Greymore and toss a spinnerbait andscum frog. You should hae pretty good weight. If you et daring head into the causway and fish the current eddies. Plenty of fish in this whole ara.

Larry Barthel and I fished from 6 am to 1:00 PM today concentrating of catching fish… rather than trying new techniques the other guy had not used before, and we caught keepers in every spot of the six spots we concentrated on. …30+ by 3:00PM 20 + by 11:30.. 10+ by 8 am. Almost evenly divided between Smallmouth and Largemouth. Cranks, T-rigged worms, tubes, and C-rigged worms all worked. Both current and backwater produced. Keepers were 70% between 2 and 2.5lbs with the about 5% below and 25% above. Biggest fish SM and LM were both just about 3# + or -.. with only one what you would call tourney fish,(3lbs or bigger), in each spot.

Then after 1pm we went to searching some wingdams which we thought had too much flow and two much water depth. To our surprise we were rewarded with some very nice fish on out lines… but then nothing.

Tough though to see a pattern that guarantees success. We were prefishing to try to decide whether to fish tourneys this weekend/nextweekend and our 5 largest fish on today were near 17lbs but only one good fish in each location kind of has us spooked. Needless to say we wouldn’t have stuck so many fish if we hadn’t decided early on that we had to find numbers of 3lbers in one-three locations and not more than one in any location would bite.. If we don’t get the 3lb fish to come off I don’t believe a 2.25-2.5lb average is gonna get squat against some fine bass anglers that fish these series.

yes indeed, located slightly North of us here in PDC..actually its probably due west of Cabela’s. either way, pool 9, fish the rock by lynxville, should get some fish i suppose. i fished by the power plant last night because i could see pads..nope..water was 91.5 deg, was like a jacuzzi. i’m on a decent enough pattern right now, i just have to find places i can duplicate it for the TS this weekend.

Sorry, I am an idiot most times. I meant Desoto which is fairly cloe to the causeway.

I’m getting a lot of good information. Will let everyone know how things went.

    Thanks again.
