If you had to create a list of the top ten baits manufactured in the last 20+ years, what would they be? You don’t have to go into detail with color or presentation. Lord knows how secretive you guys can be….

Would your list include the Senko, Berkley Powerbait, or a Johnson Silver Minnow? Maybe Lucky Craft crankbaits, or the old balsa Rapala Fat Raps. How about the old Bulldog Spinnerbait? Like I said, it could be anything.

    Let’s here your top 10!

    About covers it.

I would also add Tubes and the Drop shot. I know this is a presentation more than a bait.

I agree that spider grubs are good.

Personally, mine would be like this only not in any specific order…

    *brushhogs
    *inline spinners
    *finnesse worms
    *Sweetbeaver type baits
    *Buzzbaits
    *lipless cranks, especially frenzy
    *booyah or strikeking spinnerbaits
*brovarney swim jigss (caught some today and lost a good one on these!)
*floating rapalas(twitched on the surface near weedbeds!)
    *mizmo/strikeking tubes

yeah, the finesse worm is a huge one i forgot-Zoom Trick worm, YUM Houdini Worm, Gulp! Nightcrawler, all great finesse worms.

Good trailer hooks for spinnerbaits too, and the development of great superbraids like Stren and Power pro. fireline IMO is still as crappy as when it came out.

How can we leave out the MOST effective bait on the market? This bait is amazing and catched everything in the water. We all know you can’t be a true fisherman without the ……………………………………… BLADE DANCER

I have to agree with Gary. I don’t get many bass when ski fishing Tonka, but when I do they are nice ones. I had one night two falls ago, something like two 19’s and several 18’s. Have no clue what these fish weighed, but they seemed like really nice fish.

    I’m serious!
If a guy is looking for big weights, you need to feed em big baits!!!!!!

My first fish on Muskie opener last year was a BIG BASS that hit a 6″ Phantom glider……

The muskie guys up on mille lacs are consistenly the ones that stick the 5.5+ lb smallies. Seems like the big bronzies have a soft spot for suicks.

They don’t get many bass each day but when they do they’re the ones that count.

    7 – 10 inch wooden jerkbaits. Fishing them feels like you’re casting a chunk of 2 X 4.

The suick in the pic above is a 10 incher.

What about Bill Dance’s “Dancing Eel”???

Then there is the “walking worm” that catches more fish than live bait…….

Then there is also the new “blade dancer” where even Al Linder catch’s a fish!!!

My brother last year in one of our smallie tourneys started throwing his musky rod with a big inline bucktail and caught “Big Bass” for the day. Boy did I call him all kinds of names while he was throwing it until I saw the boil and watched this beautiful 21″ smallie take a leap for the sky…..yeah….I ate a few words back that day. Stupid musky lures!

From my former life as a musky buster, the baby Suick, the
Mepps Musky Killer, and Mouldy’s Topper Stopper, have all
taken some of my largest bass, both smallies, and green
bass. I still have my musky tackle, although it may be
sold soon at my wife’s garage sale. I should probably
rescue a few choice “bass” baits from that that lumber
and hardware pile, before she sells them off. It could
come in handy when looking for a kicker fish, in some
    future tournament.

As for the top 10 “manufactured” bass baits, the Jitterbug
should be near the top somewhere. I know it has fallen
out of fashion with the new high energy bass crowd, but
that slow plop plop waking bait has accounted for a few
tons of bass. The Senko tops my list, and if we are talking
history here, the #11 Floating Rapala has to be on that
    list somewhere, too.
