Pool 13 stomp fest

With the morning off my brother and I decided to hit up pool 13. We were the 2nd bass boat in the spot we were fishing. We started out throwing buzzbaits, on the 3rd cast my brother had a huge blow up and lost his buzzbait?? He put a new one on and next cast had a 3.5 pounder. He also caught about 4 shorts before I caught my first fish. My first came on a team supreme swim jig, the fish was 2 pounds. About that time it started to look like a boat show in that spot. but we fought the 20 other bass boats and kept fishing. I pulled a 14″ on the swim jig then a short. I put that down and picked up my buzz bait, and right away pulled two 3.5 fish. I decided that I would try a horny toad, that worked just as well and I caught one short and had about 15 blows. The bad part was every other fish would pull the legs off my horny toad???

At this point every other bass boat is digging for a buzzbait. Most boats are tossing one and we never saw anyone get a fish on them. But we kept going and kept catching fish.

By 11:00 we had 8 keepers with our biggest 6 right at 20 pounds. That is my fist 20 pound day At the ramp we were talking to one of the other guys and they told us that there was a Federation tournament starting Saturday. With all the other boats around we only saw 5 fish caught with one of them being a keeper. The guys that we talked to were trying to find out what we were using (I tried to make some money of that buzzbait but they would not bite).

    Jeremy,

Sounds like you had a great time. It feels super to put fish in the boat in front of a bunch of other fishermen. Sadly, I haven’t had the feeling in a while. Maybe tomorrow will see my fortunes change.

Love those buzzbaits, especially the two-bladed ones. The only negative is they seem to miss a lot of hook-ups, but it sounds like you guys didn’t have problems in that area.

I’m glad to see you got some quality fish out of 13. I was beginning to wonder what was going to happen there this year. Team Supreme had one of the lowest weights in a long time and I’ve heard lots of talk about tough fishing. Good job!
