Crocodile lake

    as my 2-1/2 yr old says. AKA Pleasant Creek next to Cedar Rapids just opened up yesterday. I have been checking every day and I would say that it is 85% open and whats left will be out tpday. So…. Anyone in this area who can’t wait any longer I assume I will see you on sunday unless the river is completely open .. 60 and sunny. I can;t wait.

    Hole Lee Crap, Battman.

    It hasn’t been 10 days since I was sitting on a foot of ice looking through a hole by the dam!

    Palo water temps in the 40’s and the bass are catchable. We boated 4 sunday while just getting the dust off a buddys Charger. I think today could be one for the record books.

    We caught one bass Sunday afernoon…..3lbs 2 oz. on a Rapala Super Shad Rap. Kind of a neat deal. Wrong species but she pulled dads string.

    Were you out there fishing for ‘eyes?

    I caught one bluegill from the dock, easily the biggest I’ve ever pulled from that lake. It’s got me thinking that I may haunt it later in the spring when they move up shallow.

    By the way, why Crocodile lake?

    My 2.5 year old boy loves the program “Croc Files” He has seen enough footage to know that you don’t venture to the waters edge without making sure there are no crocodiles. Since the first day of taking him to the lake he kept calling it crocodile lake. The name stuck. I know of at least 5 of my buddies who call it the same thing now..

    The muskies are hard to catch until the lake establishes an inside weedline. At least it makes it easier for me.

    No it wasn’t me. We were out from about 12:30 to 4:00 on Sunday in a super ugly 16′ Lowe jon boat. Are you originally from Independence?
