Looking to go out on Friday on P4 but was wondering about a report? Don’t want exact spots but generally what seems to be the pattern. I don’t fish tourneys and am not out to burn anyone’s spots. Just wondering about the fishing.

    Hey Kris,
    Those be some nice ones!
They are some of the first smallies I have seen out of pool 4 or further south. Nice Job!

    MN fish,

I was on the south end of pepin last weekend. Lats of changes since then. But here’s what I found. Main lake and channel were 42 to 44 degrees. Found fish in 8 to 10 ft. SLOW SLOW SLOW SLOW was the key. I was slow rolling DT 16’s and pitching white tubes.
The wind had been from the north that friday. All of my fish were caught in south facing bays or points. (The water clarity was better but not good. ) I had heard some guys were cathing smallies on jerk baits but can’t confirm that.

With temps in the 70’s I expect to see fish moving up this weekend. I will be back at it on SAT.

    Good luck hope this helps.

    Ken,

I was out last week. Water temps ranging from 43-46 degrees. I’m sure that 50 degree water is possible now. The fish very very active and it was a fun day, despite some hefty winds.

Saltwater power tubes and jerkbaits caught a lot of the fish.

I’ll be headed out to Pool 4 this Friday with some buddies and Saturday with ChrisS, so look for a blue and white Skeeter and say Hi.

Good luck and catch them while they’re hot. It seems like every tournament circuit is beating up Pool 4 this spring.

I’ll be out this weekend with a buddy of mine. If we do any good, I’ll post results. Look for a white/blue/gold Stratos — give us a wave!

Water conditions are improving. water temp in the main channel is 55 degrees. The 5 day forecast indicates the level will be down a foot and a half from this weekend. The fish are on the move. I’ll have a report up tomorrow.

    Hey John,

Can I set up a guide trip for Thurday or Friday? Goosekiller and I thought you could take us out and put us on a few fish!

    John,
My son and I found fish, I’ll say south end of pool 4 on Friday. Caught 19 largemouth and 3 smallmouth. Son’s largemouth was the largest at 18″ and 3lbs. smallies went 16″! We found water at 58 degrees and very skinny water.
Slow rolled white spinnerbait, 5″ K-grub pearl, LC pointers and #8 husky jerks were the ticket!
We’ll see you on the water this Fri. pre-fishin’ and FOM Sat.

    Eric,

Well done, and things should improve. I promised a report but when I got home from a St Jude planning meeting last night I discovered I forgot my camera in Wabasha.

    Flick,

Did you have to grab his belt to keep him from going in?
