had to get out and try today before the rain. had a great few hours on the lake catching a total of 12 largies. water temp 44.3-46.1 in the areas that i covered tryed multiple lures before hitting pay dirt. beleive it or not all of these fish but one came on a clown colored husky jerk. i found a hump in about 8-9 ft of water that they were piled on. a long cast with the wind, reel it fast to drive it down with a hard jerk to acheive ideal depth and worked it w/ slow jerks and pauses. they would hit on the pause and all you would feel was weight. sorry for the horrible pics but all i had w/ was my cell phone…this is all i could get b4 battery went low……it was great to get out and fight the wind and bass

Nice fish ‘Fowler! How much did your biggest fish weigh? Approx.

Fishing jerkbaits is a lot of fun in the spring. Did you try any plastics like flukes or tubes?

Thanks for the report. Time to dust off the St. Croix’s and Curados.

i tryed plastics with no results, not even a hit. tubes brushhogs, beaver knock offs, and worms i would guesstimate the biggest around 3.25-3.50 i wasnt real prepared to get into em. i tryed other moving baits as well with no response. it was a fun few hours though

We probed the shallow areas last night with NO luck. Figured they must have been deep. Guess they were.

Try any 7-8 foot diving cranks?

There is no season on the Mississippi and Lake Onalaska is part of Pool 7 of the river.
