    Hey Guys,

I’ve seen a ton of posts from guys catching decent size eyes in Pool 2…What’s up with the bass population on this strech of the river? How have you guys done on it?

Do you catch primarily smallies or largemouth:?

PM me if you prefer not to tell everyone….

Anyone up for fishing it tomorrow????

You need to look at some of steve dezuriks fishing reports. One word: WOW!
They are amazing. The guy is a hot stick and catches some huge Smallmouth bass on those waters. Just do a search in the Indepthangling.com reports from anywhere from september thru last november and you will see some of his amazing reports, most coming from pool 2.

Based on very little actual fishing on my part, there are Smallies in Pool 2. There’s a big culvert South of the 494 bridge that produces for the shore fishermen. North of the bridge the SSP side is heavily rip rapped and I’ve caught Smallies along there. I’ve never caught anything big, the majority of what I’ve caught have been in the 12-14 inch range. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t better fish down there it just means I don’t know how to catch them……Yet! It seems to me if P2 can crank out all those pig Walleyes it surely can grow decent Bass somewhere.

    Cade,

Yeah, Mack’s right. All my smallie fishing comes from the Upper Miss River near St. Cloud, Mn I grew up in a little town of Sartell and fished all those sections up there and I still spend every smallie opportunity up there in the summer months chasing those bronze beauties. IF you have never fished up that way……you need to!

As for Pool 2 smallies…..there are plenty of smallies in there however I have never had great consistency with the bigger fish in there. There is no doubt there are some real giants in Pool 2, but I prefer the change of scenery that the upper stretches offer me throughout the summer months plus it gives me more opportunities to fish with my Dad and brothers!

Now that’s a pretty interesting thing to say Mr. Steve. Maybe this summer’s assignment for Rootski is to identify some patterns for Pool 2 Smallmouth. My guess is look for rock, right?
