Hey i was watching good old roland martin Yesterday and i saw a pretty sweet bait he was using. it was a leverage spinnerbait. There little gaurentee was that you won’t miss a hook up because of a flexibal hook that moves with the fish so you don’t miss a hook up. just thought i would throw this post up here and see if any one has used them and what you thoughts are on em’. Thanks!

I looked at these several years ago and I could find no benefit to the wire. I had the impression this would break off easily after it was bent back and forth as in fighing a few fish. I have one still but it is big 1 once job as I recall and I don’t think I caught anything on it but haven’t thrown it in quite a while.

    Anyone else got an opinion?

I fished with a guy in a state tourney on the Bay of Green Bay a few years back and he waxed them on one. Big smallies and he didn’t loose a fish on them. He felt that they could not throw it as easily because of the flex.

How about these wierd looking things? they are called DNA spinnerbaits. They aren’t leverage, but they are interesting none the less. Read the description at: Castaic Soft Bait

gimmick..painted blades…gosh..i mean, come on, spinnerbait is for reaction strikes primarily, not like the fish are following this thing making sure it has 46 scales on its right side. as long as the basic colors are right, i think you’re good to go. chartruese, white, and black with different variations for ultra clear water.

I’ve not proven it on the water but isn’t there a benefit in some situations in having a painted blade instead of gold or silver ?

Painted blades work best during overcast days. This applies to Buzz and Spinnerbaits. Gold/silver blades just do not flash much on dark dreary days.

I am a big fan of painted blades….all chartreuse or all white…or a combination of both works great for smallies, especially in clear water.
