Check out this travel data for some of the Pro’s that fished Amistad this past weekend:

    Road to Rayburn 3/13/2006

The Amistad Bassmaster Elite Series ended yesterday in Del Rio, Texas. But practice for the Rayburn Elite Series in Jasper, Texas began this morning. The two lakes are 480 miles apart. That means everyone who made the Amistad Top 12 cut will probably miss some of today’s practice, if not the entire day. Here’s what a few of the top finishers said of their Rayburn plans.

    > Ish Monroe – He left Del Rio last night. “I’ll practice a half-day (today). I broke my jackplate the first day of the tournament. Ranger was gracious enough to overnight a jackplate, and I found a dealer in Beaumont (Texas) to put it on. That gives me time to do my laundry.”

    > Fred Roumbanis – He left Del Rio last night.

    > Mike Reynolds – He left Del Rio this morning. “I’ll miss 1 day of practice, but I’ll get a good night’s sleep.”

    > Greg Hackney – He left Del Rio last night, with plans to drive about 4 hours. “I’m going to get up early. I have some stuff to do, like laundry. I’d be satisfied if I can get there by 10:30 or 11:00 (a.m.).”

    > Steve Kennedy – He left Del Rio last night. His wife Julia drove while he slept.

    > Kevin VanDam – He left Del Rio last night with plans to drive 3 hours. “I’m so tired from this week, I can’t make it all the way. It’s 8 or 9 hours plus.”

    > Matt Reed – He left Del Rio last night

Sounds like poor tourney planning.. Or are they all like that?

It’s not always like that, but sometimes it can get congested.

B.A.S.S. tries not to schedule events the same week as FLW, as many pro’s are 2 tour pro’s and fish both leagues. Then throw in Stren Series which many tour pro’s still fish, That’s a lot of dates and a lot of tournaments..and sometimes they fall like the scenario above.

    That’s nothing, check this out:

Wednesday – 3/15 9:15 Leave Mpls. for Houston
    Wednesday – 3/15 12:30 Arrive in Houston
    Wednesday – 3/15 1:00 Drive to Jasper
    Wednesday – 3/15 3:30 Arrive in Jasper
    Wednesday – 3/15 6:00 Pre-tournament meeting
    Thursday – 3/16 Go fishing!!!
    Friday – 3/17 Go fishing!!!
Saturday – 3/18 Go fishing!!! (hopefully, gotta make the cut)

Okay, after typing it out it doesn’t really look all that bad.

Even though they may have missed some of practice, I wouldn’t mind drawing any one of those guys! Actually I don’t care who I draw, I’m just ready to go fishing!

    Thanks!

I’m suppose to have a high speed Internet connection at my hotel, so I’ll keep you updated with what’s going on.
