ESPN should do a special on how a four year old boy fishing from shore near the weigh in managed to catch 9lbs of bass in 2 days of fishing beating Byron by a few onces. The story would be an inspiration for all little kids that want to become a professional angler.

Byron Velvick holds the BASS record for heaviest total weight in a 3-day tournament (83-00), which he caught on a swimbait. Many expected him to be strong here. He finished last with two fish for 8-11.

Kicking a guy when he’s down….Do I see some more P**** envy coming out here again… I am quite sure other than JJ and TM more guys from our area will up there on the TV shows. And if it’s one of the rippers boy will that be embarrassing. Why do some folks just hate those of us that are so Pretty or as my wife says… Pretty Boys LOL

Well Velvick may have hair, but his fish catching abilities really do need questioning.

I’ve fished Amistad in October for 2 years now, and in an hour you can catch a legal limit. Okay, I stretched that a little, in some areas, it can be 1/2 hour.

Our first year on the lake, we fished schooling fish to the point where I took a break after a few hours to give my arms a rest. 50 fish days are common. The second year, we went for size and saw many 4 and 5 lb fish but no huge ones on the US side (didn’t get the Mexican registration).

I can only think that he went for weight only, and not for a limit first. Bad strategy? It had to be on that kind of fishery.

Will be back on Amistad for a 3rd year this fall….
