Looks like a much better day for him today, hope he makes the cut.
How cool was it to see Rick Clunn got that big bass on Day 1.
Did anybody catch that story about Greg Hackney going to the rescue of his father-in-law in New Orleanes? Went in with a bullet proof vest and guns to get him.Very cool story.
It’s really to bad that they can’t market and follow the walleye guys like they do the bass guys.
Ryan HaleFebruary 25, 2006 at 5:07 pm #424438How can you tell how they are doing for weight- that winnecommm or whatever only says numbers and it gives no indication of size. If you have another way let me know. JJ
February 25, 2006 at 6:15 pm #424450I saw him down to 40th place this morning Thats still awesome that he is in the classic and 10 places ahead of last, but i am really hoping he can at least make the bubble. Interestingly, he is only 4 or 5 pounds away from the bubble, so it could be done.
Way to Go Jim!February 25, 2006 at 8:52 pm #424483Just watched Jimmy weigh in on the streaming internet-
17-13! Nice bag, hope it makes the cut- i think it should.February 25, 2006 at 10:22 pm #42449314th place with 2 to weigh in I think it’s safe to say he’s in the big show tomorrow
February 25, 2006 at 10:33 pm #42449516th over-all. All he needs to do is swing for the fences and bring in a big bag. Let’s just hope he has some more fish out there and didn’t burn his spots up today.
February 25, 2006 at 11:16 pm #424498Locals in all the big shows… whoohooo First one of our Pool 9 neighbors wins the Flw Walleye Championship, now Jimmie Johnson makes the final day cut at Bass Masters Classic…and does anybody doubt even 10#s out he could win it all,Not me I know he can. And Flick up in Alma and I could keep going and going…makes us all proud to live here and reminds us there are few training grounds like this for fishing.
February 26, 2006 at 3:29 am #424546did they give jimmy any coverage? wow thats awesome that he made it. I was out fishin all day. Only a dozen or so fish caught and nothing to brag about. Shoulda stayed home and watched the classic
February 26, 2006 at 4:08 am #424553I heard them “mention” his name when they were running down the leader board. I didn’t see any coverage of his day though. Apparently you have to have a household name to get any footage shown.
Who knows……. if he wins this thing, they MAY just show a couple seconds of his day!
February 26, 2006 at 4:42 am #424568i followed what minimal coverage i could while at work from 5am 2 6 pm…….i knew he could do it….even if he 0’s tommorow, hes still an icon to me …go 4 it jj.heres to the start of a great full time career some day you’ll laugh about the winning fish i threw back last july
February 26, 2006 at 6:30 am #424594Didn’t say much in evening show, but same one of the announcers mentioned his name out of the field twice while only mentioning a couple others so he seemed to know it was wise to mention him jumping up like that and probably knew another day like that and folks will want to know more.

he’s not gonna zero…hes already up in 10th place!
this is awesome!February 26, 2006 at 2:12 pm #424615I was glad to see that the LAX Trib did have a nice article in the paper this morning about Johnson. Bob Lamb does a good job of following fishing.
Good luck Jimmy.

February 26, 2006 at 2:32 pm #424617they finally showed Jimmy on tv! it wasn’t live, but they did the little google map thing and showed where he has been catching him. looks like hes got a couple 1-1/2 pounders and a 3 pounder right now. HES UP TO 7TH PLACE!!!!
I can’t think of his name right now, but hes the guy with the white hair, hes older and he has his show “the fishin’ hole”..anyway, he was predicting that somebody that they haven’t talked about much yet will catch some big ones and come back to win. You never know, Jimmy’s not that far out of first, a couple hogs could put him at a nice shot. What would the pay out be for him if he were to stay in 7th place where he is anyway?February 26, 2006 at 2:40 pm #424620ok, i don’t mean to get carried away with this thread, im not trying to be annoying by constantly replying, but everytime i look at the leader board it changes. HES IN 2ND PLACE RIGHT NOW!!! HOLY CRAP I AM SO AMAZED. They are going to give a little more info about him after the comercial break. He must have caught a hog.
BomberAPosts: 649February 26, 2006 at 2:41 pm #424621Up to 2nd place . He needs a mega toad to catch Clausen though. I’m cheering louder than the ’96 super bowl
StaggoPosts: 36February 26, 2006 at 5:29 pm #424658I would expect some good press for the weigh in segment- I didnt get to watch this am yet but I believe he is the only Fed qualifier to make the cut- that usually gets some quality mention regardless of how they finish.
February 26, 2006 at 11:23 pm #424699Bunch of crap they didn’t show JJ weigh in at all. Screw ESPN.
February 26, 2006 at 11:44 pm #424708there was more damn commercials than actually footage. i think up untill the last 6 they only showed like 5 or 6 others weighing in.
February 26, 2006 at 11:50 pm #424714Awesome awesome finish by Jimmy. 2nd best weight of the final day after KVD. I don’t get why ESPN wouldn’t show at least a small clip on it.
Way to go Jimmy. You took on the best and proved you are one of them. Just incredible. Congrats!!
