If that is fact, it will get his attention! Loosing sponsorship has to really hurt! Also, that could make room for Jimmy. Jimmy in a Ranger, not likely!

    Ranger drops Ike 2/28/2006
Ranger Boats has dropped its sponsorship of Mike Iaconelli based on his behavior at the recent Bassmaster Classic. Here’s the statement from Ranger president Randy Hopper.

“Based on a series of events that occurred during the recent Bassmaster Classic competition, Ranger Boats is withdrawing its sponsorship and affiliation with Mike Iaconelli. We do not believe that Mike’s conduct during the tournament appropriately represents the deep-seated values on which our company was built and continues to operate.

“Ranger further acknowledges Iaconelli’s impressive angling achievements as well as his commitment to promoting the sport of fishing. His efforts to encourage others through the platform of fishing are a credit to his many accomplishments. While we regret his actions leading to this decision, we wish Mike well in future ventures.”

    > During day 2 of the Bassmaster Classic, Berkley issued a statement stating Iaconelli would remain a Berkley pro-staff member. BassFan is awaiting comment from Iaconelli’s other sponsors

Im not in-love with the guy but I feel that I need to stick up for him here.

Ike is a great angler who trudged his way up the ladder and was not an overnight success. His actions were a bit out of line but I feel the MEDIA is to blame for all of this happening to him. DQ him, dont cause all of the anglers to rub it in and take jabs when they get a chance. Warn him, dont cause a man to loose his sponsors and maybe his whole carrier just because a few people who have too much power dont like to see real raw emotion. I would like to see how everyone would fare with an ESPN camera on them tourney day.

You have to take into consideration that ESPN and BASS pushed for Ike to display his antics. It was BASS and ESPN that asked him to “break-dance” on stage!!!!!!!

ESPN and BASS created a “monster” and when they now don’t like it, they burn him down……

There was no reason to air his actions and antics on TV the way they did…..He isn’t the only guy to act this way……Who was the other angler that was cussing because he kept loosing fish????

Gary, that would be a VERY long list. Swindle and Aaron Martens to name a few.

    Thank you!

    I like Ike.

I think he is good for the sport. He took away a lot of “stuffiness” and opened the door for the fans to truely get involved.

Ike has proven that all these anglers are just everyday guys and not superstars or immortal.

Sounds like a football player named Terrell Owens.

ESPN did not drop this guy to lower their ratings, just recognized him for what he is in the spotlight.
