I have had great success using the Horny Toad, but go through alot of baits, somtimes without catching any fish. The tip of the Horny Toad tends to fall apart and slide down the hook. I do glue the bait to the hook and that helps. I was just wondering if some of you might have a better rigging idea. Thanks, Carl

I have been saving mortally wounded toads and then heating a spinnerbait wire with a match, running the hot wire into the torn areas, and melting the nose back together. Works OK most of the time to get another fish or two out of a bait.

Interesting tip I learned last week from Don Iovino if I can describe it here- works for plastics like senkos, worms, etc-

Take a peg it rubber stopper like you would use to peg a bullet weight and insert it into the hook eye- leave some tag ends on both sides of the eye, then rig it just like you normally would. Ive never tried it personally but plan to – it seems to hold the head in place. You can also use a toothpick and after rigging the plastic push it through the wall of the plastic, through the hook eye and out the other side, then trim even with the sides of the bait.

For a senko the best rig I have found is using a small O-Ring. If you need the rigging drop me a note and I will post a pic.

Check out the Mann’s Hardnose Baits. Picked up a few packs of their Toads last Fall. They seem to hold up a lot better.

Where do you get them and what size fit the 5 inch Senko? You are talking rubber O-Rings right?

    Planned obsolescence.
