Pool 4 on April 30th. What to do? Never been on the river that early for bass. It would be nice if someone could give me an idea of what to do that time of the year for bass. Thanks much! David

My advice is to find s fishing club out there and follow the boats around

My advice, drink heavily the night before, sleep in, dress warm and go home early.

It worked well for me on the second day of the KFAN tourney last year! I didn’t win, but neither did the majority of people in the tournament.

All you have to do is find the active LM bass in warmer water and give them the presentation they prefer. They usually are still schooled up quite a bit at that point. It’s not always easy to find the active ones at this point of the year.

there are NO bass on pool 4 april 30th thru may 7th, may as well add pool 5 to that list. sorry. something to do with the barges south of Illinois creating a dramatic change in the flow of the backwaters of Lake Onalaska causing a negative ionic charge to move the bait fish into the forth bend in the nearest feeder creek thus creating a void of bass on said pools of the mississippi. dogs and cats living together MASS HYSTERIA!!!!!!!! hope this helps

What you mentioned can happen any given day. Any time you are not catching them…..We’ll there you go….thats what happened. I’ve seen it alot before.

I doubt that is true I am sure there is Bass in pool 4 that early because a guy in our club caught a 7lber a couple of years ago during the tournament!

I would look for fish to be staged around spawning areas (low to zero current) with deeper water nearby. Look for warmer water. Run off, cloudy water will likely be colder water. Last year the Chippawa river was pouring cold muddy water in. SO, in that situation running all the way up Pepin to fish the WI Marina’s was about the only solution.

At this rate you should have plenty of time to prefish. I drove past Lake City yesterday and there is a large amount of open water!
    Are the Smallies biting yet?

Yes I know Alvinmack THEY ARE! You lucky dog.
