Jim will be on SPORTSCENTER this Sunday! Here’s the add I got today…
January 14, 2006 at 2:28 am #411808Wow- what a comeback! That is great for champ- good to see someone from the site/region with some big time success. Awesome work champman.
January 14, 2006 at 3:53 am #411834Do you suppose those guys are gonna get screwed out of their opportunity now that the Federation is leaving BASS?
January 14, 2006 at 4:01 am #411836No, the current system is in place til 2007. He’s in, and whoever makes it next year is in. Plus if B.A.S.S. holds true to what they are saying about the B.A.S.S. Nation-the Federation Nation is retaining its 6 classic spots….whether or not that changes in the future I don’t know…

Quote:
Jimmy Johnson of LaCrosse, Wis., was the biggest mover of the day, weighing in a five-fish limit of 12 pounds, 4 ounces and jumping from seventh to first in the Northern division. Johnson bested his competition by just 1 ounce. “I had been on these fish all week, and I finally got them,” said Johnson. “I just can’t believe it!”

Is anybody surprised…lots of great Bass fisherman from our area..but he is outstanding. You know your somebody when a guide’s customers from hundreds of miles away ask if the guide knows who he is. First time we met in person was at a Tuesday nighter with very low turnout.. he asked if I wanted to jump in his boat and fish with him and another guy,(he did this for a complete stranger???),… no clue who he was so I just fished out of mine …. Big mistake LOL… anyway Congratulations to the 20000th degree… you had to do everything almost perfectly everyday to get there and it really doesn’t surprise me that you did. Someday maybe I’ll know 20% of what you know about Bass and to me that will be a success.January 14, 2006 at 7:37 pm #411898Jimmy,
I dont know what to say but Congrats man!
I have a feeling that your second classic is going to be much better than the first. You rock!
January 14, 2006 at 8:32 pm #411908Awesome, most guys would have given up. Give Jim a little time and he’ll figure out how to catch em.
January 15, 2006 at 3:59 am #411974Awsome work Jimmy. Great comeback. Just great. Did you give a Big Ike “NEVER GIVE UP”! when you put the winner in the boat?
I hope you’ll still come back and talk to us after you win the next Classic. Has a fed qualifier ever won one? If not, you become the first!!
January 15, 2006 at 4:09 am #411975Only one federation qualifier has ever won:
1994 Bryan Kerchal, High Rock Lake, NC
He died shortly after winning the Classic in a plane crash
January 15, 2006 at 10:04 pm #412035Congrats Jimmy…knew you could do it! It must suck knowing you’re the best fisherman in the midwest.
January 16, 2006 at 1:17 am #412069Congrats Jimmy. Must not have pulled the mooseknucles out till the last day . Man I can’t wait for the classic. We will be watching. This time don’t wait till the last day.
January 16, 2006 at 2:06 am #412100does anybody know what kind of fish he pulled? was he pulling pigs? or was it an average fish kind of deal?
I hear the pattern they had going was pitching creature baits like brush hogs to grass …this was on basscenter.
i don’t know about you guys, but im excited to see sportcenter tonight don’t forget to watch it at 10 our time!January 16, 2006 at 4:36 am #412150that was not worth sittin threw all the football highlights like 3 times then only see 1 min max on it. whats up sports center!
by the way good job jim hope you can win it!January 16, 2006 at 12:25 pm #412166thanks guys, it’s great to have a good support system like all the guys here. Just sunk in that i’ll be going again. I’m still shaking. I thought i didn’t have a shot at it because jim severson had some fish the last day. All i can remember is the confusion i had when i was on the stage and the numbers come up 12-4. awesome
January 16, 2006 at 1:25 pm #412180Welcome back, Jim. It would’ve been nice to see the weigh-in. Unfortunately, ESPN decided to re-run football highlights over and over again and only give the championship 30 seconds of coverage. I really wanted to see how the South American did…yay.
I emailed ESPN about it.
January 16, 2006 at 1:52 pm #412187This time quit your job if they don’t give you the proper preperation…. No more coulda woulda…
Go get ’em.
jcJanuary 16, 2006 at 3:00 pm #412202thanks jim, i heard i have a present at your house that i have to pick up- hoffman told me about it. Let me know when we can meet. I will be on Kentucky lake during the convention this year.
January 16, 2006 at 3:07 pm #412204If you guys can’t meet before the madison show, I can bring it back. Jim (champ) only lives a few streets away from me.
