Are pools 10-19 open enough to fish?

Anyone know what the ice conditions are on the lower pools? Is it just main river that is still open or are some of the backwater areas with current open? I wouldn’t mind getting boat wet this weekend and am open to any pool 10-19.

Thanks. I don’t want to drive for hour and not be able to fish.

I fished Guttenburg (pool 11) this past weekend. The channel was open for a few miles downstream as was Ackerman’s cut but I couldn’t say if any of the backwaters were open. Pool 12 at DBQ is open quite a ways down the channel and I would imagine every pool downstream would be open as well. The backwaters that I have seen are not open unless it is a major slough with current. Keep in mind that there are closed areas in pools 12, 13 & 14 directly below the dams. These closed areas are to all fishing until March 15th. At DBQ the area runs from the dam down to the railroad bridge. At Bellevue it runs from the dam down to the mouth of Mill Creek. I’m not sure how far the closed area is at Clinton. I know that there have been boats out at the Quad Cities all winter so far but then again they have been on the channel and not the backwaters.

I can see on wanting to get out and fish, but the water temp is cold as heck, ice chunks flowing down the river which a lot of the chucks ride under the water…why would you want to risk putting in ur boat and try bass fishing…u ain’t gonna catch anything…how about this..put ur glass boat in and scream down river doing 70 and let us know how much fiberglass is left

    Heck Pitbull,
I am out dodging ICE every spring. And yup, I can make those smallies bite even when I am pulling my hair jig off the ice into the water.
