I have stuff i need to do the next 2 weekends so if today was my last day out this yr atleast i went out with a bang.
I got on the water about 10 this morning and at 2 i put the 25th fish in the boat.
If anyone is going this weekend fish the islands that connect the pits. I caught every thing today on cranks, creature and beaver knock offs. The cranks i bounced off of timber and plastics i worked very slow. Right now the fish are stacked on the front side of the islands. Have a blast guys. I hope this wasnt my last time out but i think it may have been.

I may be going out tomorrow with Wingdam…and a good chance I’ll be going there. Were they close to shore or out deeper?

    Catch anything big?

When i talk about the pits i tend to label the entire area as pits. I include the pits and the water that connects them. This takes in a couple miles of water. So in my pit area you have deep water *30ft* or more. You have acres of pads and slop fishing. You have every type of shore line from gravel, sand , mud. There are tons of downed trees that lay in shallow water, extend out to ledges and deep water. The area has boat docks, drainage tubes, underwater humps. Juat about every type of grass and water weed grows their. I could tell alot more about the pits but *community hole* i dont understand that Slop

Danno Buddy, I say it’s a community hole b/c if you go sit there on a tourney day, you’ll have 15+ boats back there…easy. It’s a great area at times, and most fisherman who frequent the pool realize that. The 2nd place boater and 1st place co-angler were back in the pit during the BFL, combined for over 30lb+’s from 1 spot. I know, I watched ’em

While I call it a community hole, you still have to know how to break the area down….(as always). I know you’ve taught me how to jerkbait fish back there

I was in the pits today…I didnt have a great day but caught around 20 fish in 3 hours with 6 keepers. 17 inches was the biggest caught on my second cast. I Saw B.C. and Wingdam fishing the condos and i talked for a while with jimt who said he was doing well on the shoreline a little south of the culvert. I mostly fished the usual spots…Started on the docks, fished some of the shoreline with spinnerbaits and then fished the rocks at dairyland with plastics. I caught quite a few on the docks at first including 2 keepers. I caught a keeper on a booyah chartruse spinnerbait and a couple dinks on a chrome spinnerbait. After Jim left, i headed up to this bank and tried a wooly hawg craw and caught 5 fish in about 5 minutes in a small 20 yard stretch. For a while, I was getting pounded on almost every cast. This didnt last long however. After that short stretch, i didnt catch one more fish. I went back up and fished it down again and caught 1 more 14 incher and a 12 incher.
Like i said, it wasn’t a great day, but it was nice to see some other IDA members out today!

Hey BC, did you ever get a smallie over there? I really couldnt get anything going down on the south end of the pit

It was good meeting you bigfish. We hit that area south of the culvert one more time and pulled a couple more three pounders off the deep drop…wish I could have stayed longer but my wifes feet were cold. Except for the cold feet she had fun though. It was deffinately her best outing since I got her started this year. I think she must have caught at least 12 fish with half being keepers from 2 to 3 pounds. I think between us we boated 30+ fish today, 15 being keepers…the fishing right now is making it hard to put the boat away…but I think thats a good thing.

what part exactly were you fishing? were you fishing that one point or were you fishing the brush along the shoreline? i was fishing along the scattered brush that was around to catch those last minute fish, but it seemed like once i pulled it off the break, they were there….

Wingdam pulled a couple nice smallies on, well, a wingdam earlier from when you saw us. We had a good day overall though, but nothing over 3lbs was caught.

yeah i caught one that would have probably been right around 3
the rest were all 1.5-2.5 lb’rs
I was getting sick of putting up with the rain later on in the day and i think that kind of brought me down. Finally i relaxed and just fished and picked up 7 or 8 more fish in the last 15 minutes of fishing
