Wow that should be interesting! can’t miss that! Bassmaster is my absolute favorite series to watch. I have learned a lot, in fact, a good portion of my knowledge about bass fishing, just from this series. Im sure i will learn a lot when they come up here. I know you guys are all swim jig throwers, and i have started to get big into it myself, but do you think these guys will be throwing them on the river?? I know this is a hot ticket for most river fisherman, but i never really see those dudes throwing them..its always jig this, drop shot that…and jerkbait over here….Should be interesting to see what they do when they are up here and if those strategies mentioned will still produce good bags up here..
“These guys” are US! This is B.A.S.S.’s weekend series which is almost exactly like the BFL. Some scoring rules are different but it’s still like $200 for boaters with similar payouts as the BFL’s.
Hope you don’t show up to the tournament in hopes to see KVD and all you see is Slop Bass!

Someone once told me when I asked about using small baits, “Small is all”. After Sunday I can say, “That is a load of crap!” Small bait= tons of small fish! Ok, well maybe I have done good in the past with a small bait but not when the fish want a fat tube . I still haven’t told Brovarney about the perch that bit the jig…
How many of you are going to fish this instead of the BFL? If you are going to fish one or the other, what will you base your decision on? Just wondering. Will there be a regional then leading to a super tourny like the BFL as well?
Bassman
I’m fishing BFL next year for sure. I’d like to know more about the circuit b4 slapping an entry fee down
GONNA FISH THE WINNECONNE AS BOATER FOR BASS SERIES THATS FOR SURE AS WITH THE BFL SINCE ITS A WEEK BEFORE ARE ZONE.
AND SINCE THE STREN AND BFL CONFLICT,IM JUST GONNA FISH TOURNEYS I WANT TO LIKE THE FIRST LACROSSE IN BFL AND WINNECONNE AND THE SUPER TOURNEY AND DO THE STREN LACROSSE. THATS ABOUT IT FOR ME ON ALL THE CIRCUITS
The Press Release and other info:
CELEBRATION, Fla. — Anglers who fish in the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series in 2006 should be prepared for more opportunity on the water and bigger prize purses.
Next year, BASS is increasing to six the number of regions and increasing to five the number of divisions in the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series. Each division will now have four tournaments instead of five. The changes mean another 40 one-day tournaments for total of 120. And because they stretch from Texas to Maine, BASS will reach more local anglers than ever before.
The divisional tournaments will continue to host 200 boaters and non-boaters each and the top 30 boaters and non-boaters in each division advance to the regional tournament, where the field will be narrowed to the top eight. Those eight boaters and non-boaters from each region will advance to the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series National Championship whose winner will advance to the 2007 CITGO Bassmaster Classic.
“We are very excited about the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series for 2006,” said Bruce Mathis, director of ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series and the Women’s Bassmaster Tour. “Based on the feedback we received from anglers throughout the 2005 season, we have expanded our schedule to cover a much larger area of the country and reach an even greater number of anglers.”
With more opportunity comes a larger prize purse. Boaters and non-boaters will compete for a total prize purse of $55,055 in cash and merchandise at each event, including a $7,500 boater top prize and $3,750 non-boater top prize. Overall, BASS will pay 30 percent of the field in 2006, up from 20 percent in 2005.
Additionally, BASS is enhancing its shared-weight program between boaters and non-boaters in the Series. In 2006, non-boaters will need to catch at least one bass to be eligible to share the weight of their boaters. “We listened to angler feedback and they indicated the importance of this new standard,” Mathis said.
Plus, a second-chance tournament will be offered to those anglers who paid to fish in all four one-day tournaments in their division, but did not qualify for the regional tournament. The top eight boaters and non-boaters from the second-chance tournament also will advance to the National Championship and have a chance to qualify for the 2007 CITGO Bassmaster Classic.
Boater entry fees in 2006 will be $250 for each tournament. Non-boater entry fees will be $125.
I just realized this….but the BASS events are held on SUNDAY’S!!!
This definetly throws a curveball, b/c it will allow people to fo fish these and not conflict w/any other circuits….
Interesting…What do you guys think?
Definitely an option. Did anyone else notice the Hawkeye division . Looks like one for the river rats…
The more I read, the more interesting stuff I find.
CO-ANGLERS…Check this out:

Interesting huh….I remember discussing “the demise of the co-angler” a while back…..Now a co-angler can catch 1 dink and still WIN the tournament….
I like the Minnesota division especially if I get an internship in Minneapolis
I was just looking at the BASS schedule and the praire league has a tournament 8/20 out of Savanna, Il. , if I’m not mistaken the BFL out of Clinton for next year is 8/19 ???. Thats alot of boats. I also think the charity tourney is slated for the same weekend (usually a 100+ boat tourney out of the same pool as Clinton). What do you think??
Not a big fan of the co-angler gets angler weights rule. This rule would suggest that the angler would give the co less water to fish… personally I’d rather catch my own. I’ll stick with the BFL.
Back up cowboy…….Is D-nort planning on using his new found finesse skills to kick some BFL butt????????
I didn’t get all the Details……..sounds like something is up……..
My best perch on a Brovarneybaits 1/4oz swim jig was 13″ I thought it was a walleye in the water.
Ducklr- how about reversing the table? As a BOATER you now have more of a chance to fish out your fish without losing a few to the co-anglers. The Bassmaster Series boaters I guess now feel as if they have a cheerleader in the back of their boat. Really. Every fish the boater gets is more weight for the co-angler.
Now hold on before you all go bashing me and accusing me of being a co-angler hater. If you look at my last two BFL’s my co-anglers have won MONEY$! Just last week during our Prairie BFL after I had my limit, I would have a fish blow on my bait and not hook up. I’d then turn to my co-angler and tell him to throw in there and get him. I like seeing my co’s do well. Buuuuuut, if I don’t have a limit I’ll be honest and say I’m only thinking about me .
…and YES Brovo, I might have a little suthin-suthin up my sleave for Kentucky . I’ll be up this weekend to pick up the goods .

Actually, you’re just too easy to outfish from the back of the boat. Just ask the BC gill.
Ouch Bomber!!!
To clarify, I said they won money, NOT that I got beat . But I guess when your on as many fish as I am it’s easy to out-fish me. .
I still hate that jig though .
Who am I kidding…I suck .
seems like your non-boater at wind lake always seems to catch the HOGS and the boater only snags the BOGS…..

My thoughts are, fishing as a Co I think that it is important that the Boater clearly states his limits before the tourney even starts… netting, casting ahead, etc. That’s up to you to “let” your Co catch your missed fish.. but as a CO, I could care less about how the boater is doing… as long as I am catching fish. Personally it doesn’t bother me outfishing the Boater, especially in his own spots, but I don’t hold back techniques or info to tell ’em how I am catching them either. Just my opinion… but my fish are my fish, boaters fish are his fish. If I wanted to team up with someone I’d fish a TEAM circuit.
