I agree, they look awsome. I will be trying some of these on lake wisconsin pitchin dock in twoo weeks, as well as on the Madison chain. they should do really well. I have seen them at the Gander Mountain stores down here in IL, I would expect that they have them in the ZOOM section in La Crosse as well. Dale ussually has that placed stocked well. Looks to be zoom’s model of the sweat beaver would love to hear how you guys do with them up on the river. I also know that the Gander mountain plastics have a knock off of the sweat beavers that look good as well, anyone try those?

They look great. Just what I need. MORE EQUIPMENT. Guess I’ll need to sneak them in the boat.

They should be in most of the store already. I found these bumpin’ through TackleWarehouse.com. The pearl white ones should be great for this fall. Can’t wait to drop some coin on more tackle….

I would NOT be afraid to throw it weightless. Fish it like a fluke, through pads or over slop.

I might even try pinching off the 2 side paddles.

    Bassman,

I bought a couple Gander tubes to try and they are harder then a rock. Was hard to get a good hook set b/c the tube was so hard and the fish didn’t want to hold them long. Not sure about the sweat beavers, but if they are anything like the tubes they might be a touch hard as well.

BC, they’ve got them at Gander in LaCrosse…you have to look real hard in the Zoom section to find them, they’re mixed in with the regular Brush Hogs. They only had a few colors as of last week when I was in there, hopefully they’ve added to the selection since then.

Don’t bother B.C.. I’m 5 minutes away from there. they won’t have any left when you get there.

Leave me a pack or two.

I still haven’t even used a sweet beaver.

They do look beaver-esque, but I think these, and all the other imitators, lack the primary feature that makes the beave the fish catching machine that it is. If you look closely at the Sweet Beaver you can see that the ridges on the body are aligned such that they push water on the retrieve and I suspect create a little turbulent flow. I think this, in addition to the nearly perfect crawdad type profile, is what really draws the bites. I’ve fished most of the imitators (Culprit, Zoom, Yum, etc.), and while they definitely catch fish when they’re biting, the Beave outshines them all when the bite is tough… just ask the guys fishing 10 feet in front of me during the first two days of the Everstart

    Thats a neat bait.

    Bassman-

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like every band is trying to come up with a nock off from the sweet beaver.

Theres wooly hawg craws from yum….Theres Sweet Cheeks from team supreme, and now theres this.I like the style of these baits and i have tried all of them…except for the super hog. I had never heard of it. Im sure it will be dinomyte though!

A yum wooly hawg craw (pinched off for a trailer)

    Question-
For those of you that fish sweet beavers and sweet cheeks:
When you take one out of the package, the claws are connected together. I usually pull them a part for extra action. Whats your method of fishing them? pulling them apart or leaving them As is?

The wooly hawg has been around for some time now….

Gander has these Super Hogs spread out all over the place. I was up there w/BC and he mopped them up…at least the “good” colors

Used one this morning while having my dad use a baby Brush Hog. No real difference seen, the study continues……..

Not really all that similar to the Beaver if you ask me. The YUM bait is closer IMO. Not that is makes the Super Hog worse, in fact, more active fish may like the faster rate of fall…

The Team Supreme sweet beaver knock-off is the exact same as the Gander knock-off. TS probably has a better color selection though and I think they put more in the bag. Ace in LaCrosse had a few of the TS’s the other day when I was in there.

    Don’t forget Gamblers UGLY OTTER.

The big paddle tail really thumps. The the two side legs flair and thump.

The plastic is a touch harder so that they don’t rip apart as easy.

Was out on Long Lake today, and caught some nice smallies fishing the Super Hog with 3/16 oz. sinker and a 4/0 Eagle Claw EWG hook. All the hits I got while fishing this were good ones .

    JC,
The Long Lake I fished is about 20 miles north of Chippewa Falls.
