The Everstart in La Crosse started today, (for all those who live under a rock )

There has to be a certain strategic plan to fishing a 4 day tourney. If you were fishing a 4 day tourney how would you go about fishing it?

Personally I would make sure for the first 2 days I had at least 12-13lbs each day. Based on the weights of the first day trying to make the cut for the 3rd day, I wouldn’t burn a spot unless I needed to do so towards the end of the day. Pulling your best fish the first day doesn’t get you any cash. If I made it to the 3rd day I wold more than likely go for broke and pull the biggest fish I could hoping it’s enough to make it to the last day. Then repeat that process again for the 4th & final day.

I would burn one good spot day 1. (If i had the fish to get threw the week.) If this gives me enough to feel comfortable about the cut. I would lay back day 2. Then go for broke 3 and 4.

I would burn enough fish for me to make the Day 3 cut.

Day 3 and 4 are all out, hold nothing back…..Time to bring in those 5 “paaaaandaa’s”

I would definitely target the bigger fish on day one so you are guaranteed to make the cut and maybe get a smaller bag on day two, possibly “pre-fishing” later in the day for the next two days. I am kind of curious as to where the biggest bags will come from? Pool 9?

Ok Bass Guys, I read Blues Post and wonder why would you not burn a spot and take a big fish or 2 or 3 in the first 2 days??? I understand not burning all your spots, but if you do not make the cut the first day or two, what was the sense of holding back and not wanting to catch a big fish for until day 3???? You need to make the cut before you can fish day 3 correct????

By burning a spot I meant keep pulling fish hoping for a bigger bite. If the spot ony holds 2.5lb fish, what sense does it make to keep hammering it hoping for a big bite. Move on to spot #2. You might need those fish for the next day or further yet. Taking a couple fish(maybe even 5) and moving on is something I would do.

Not everyone is going to come in with a 15lb bag every day. I think it’s safe to say if you can catch 13lbs or over all 4 days, you are going to do well.

Basically I am betting I’m going to make the needed cuts, and I am only hurting myself by hooking all my primary fish the first day.

I would try to get the biggest bag i could the first day. once the weigh in is over, I would check the cut weight and base day 2 on that. If I’m at the cut or below, I would try to get the biggest bag I could on day 2. If I was above the cut I would not try for the biggest but get enough to make the cut. If everything worked to my favor, I would even spend some time scouting stuff for day 3. Then, as Slop stated, go for broke on days 3 and 4. But what do i know, I’m just a Rangerette.

I guess it depends on what you are there for.
If I were there to win like I would assume everyone else is… I would not burn my best fish at any day but the last.
If I was catching 2lb fish and I knew tat would not cut it, I would move immediately looing for bigger bites. Wasting time trying to get one or 2 good ones is not something I am prepared to do in a draw tourney. If you burn any fish you will not be at your best. Making the cut is important so if you don’t even have the 2lbers figured out you might want to rethink your practice habits.
