Last night was the start of Season 3, the last of our Jerkin’ Lips Year.

I won Season 1. BC won Season 2. Reelguy has won NOTHING Anyway…Pool 7 last night proved to be fairly tough. Several Guys brought in nothing, and the guys that did bring fish in, didn’t have much for size.

Here was the winning bag. Caught somewhere on Lake Ona, throwing swimming jigs up near rock and pulling it through sporadic weed patches, w/a touch of current blowing by.

Slop – you calling anything tonight? I heard through the grape vine that you spent some money at lunch on some “secret” lures… Are you on fish?

Last night went pretty well. I can honestly say I saw the first signs of a fall pattern last night. I saw huge numbers of shad (3-4″) schooled up and the bass were right there with them.

We’ve been having serious camera problems as of late, so these pictures are horrible, I apologize.

Here’s Motley, sporting his new Yamaha hat he got at the Everstart…w/a solid keeper. Motley will have to log on here shortly and tell us what he caught it on, cause i’m not sure.

I got on my first spot yesterday and it had perfect conditions. Great current running over eel grass up onto a sand flat, with thousands of nice size shad running around. There were bass there, but they were difficult to catch. There was another bass boat sitting on the “right spot”, and he was managing to catch a few. I talked to him later at the landing, he said lots of smalls and a few nice keepers….

After that area calmed down, I moved to some Rock along a certain community bridge on the Black. Caught these two nice fish. Both caught on my favorite BB jig. (which i’m now out of) .

IDA’s JimT came down from Tomah last night to fish w/us. had a great time…thanks for coming down. I’m sorry Jim, but your picture came out black… Thanks and hope to see you back down here soon

Reelguy’s 14″er was actually 16″ and 2.4#’s… but certainly not enough to get the job done

RG and Zurfy caught 17 fish, 14 (We counted) were between 12.75 and 13.75 inches… unreal. They are TOTALLY running on Shad, and they are thick. Just wait for teh bust, throw in and have a good time! All my fish were caught on a L.W. Swim Jig… except my keeper was caught on plastic fished underneath the bust.

I also demonstrated some real stelar fishing prowess… I caught a Smallie without an eye… (Now we know they DO survive when you hook ’em through the eye!

    Great weather, and good times!

A final comment, with the river under 5′, I do NOT recommend running into Round Lake to the spillway… if you do, do NOT come off throttle. My skeg is very shiny today!

Oh, can someone call in teh exterminator? The mosquitoes SUCK!!!!

“RG and Zurfy caught 17 fish, 14 (We counted) were between 12.75 and 13.75 inches…”

I just got back from fishing with a friend and we caught a total of 17 bass in about 2 hours of fishing. 2 were over 14 and almost all of the rest were 12-13.5 inchers with an occasional 10 mixed in. I got 7 he got 10…I started out wooping him but he came back. We stumbled upon one log and i made my first cast. I caught a 13 incher. From there, we started ripping them off that log like crazy…NO SIZE though. I think we pulled 8 off that one log! Things seemed to be working like this…Quantity was in the wood, while the quality fish were in the weeds, as both keepers were caught along weedbeds on a plastic worm.

I cant wait for fall fishing, but i can wait for the actual season of fall… ..hard to explain, but lets just say i love summer

Thanx for the invite, too bad we couldn’t put a second fish in the boat and my 4 pounder shrank to a 3 pounder in my live well. I hope some day I’ll be able to guess-ta-mate the weight of a fish. It was great meeting everybody. Would have stayed longer but had to drive to Tennessee the next day…no fishing but did spend several hours and a substantial amount of $$$ in the Nashville Bass Pro Shop.

RG, lets just say that your still “wet behind the ears” on that kind of stuff. being able to see the very small changes in approach makes all the difference! BTW: i think wingdam learned something new last night too

Here’s the little gunners JJ brought in last night. What some nice bronzebacks. I’m still trying to get that Carolina rigging a Sammy down though.

    Very nice fish Jim.

“Wet behind the ears?” More like my head is in the pool… I have a lot to learn, a lot. What I continue to learn most of all, luck becomes less and less of the equation as one begins to better understand the sport, the fish, and the plethora of techniques and environments fish inhabit.

As for the picture… Ain’t that a P-U-R-D-Y boat in the background!
