Just wanted to let everyone know that we have Wednesday night tournaments on Lake Winona. Usually its a two fish limit. $10 per boat and we take off at the franklin street landing. Trolling motor only. My dad and I ended up winning with 8.15lbs for two fish as you see in the picture. Hope to see you all there.

Any tips or techniques? I live about 25 miles from there and have never fished it. It sounds like a fun place to spend an afternoon.

    BTW, nice fish!!

Matth or Blue – Lets go sometime I have a little 15ft boat with a good size trolling motor. I didn’t know you could actually put a boat in those little lakes.

The Big Fish in the pic was 5.35lbs

I have been throwing a lot of sinkos, crankbaits and worms, all have been producing about the same.
Take off time is 6:00, try to be there a little early, cause we have been getting about 10 boats and it gets a little cluttered. Hope to see you all there!!!

Adloos, just a question for you. Is the trolling motor only a club rule because unless I am wrong, the sign at the ramp indicates a 10 MPH speed limit and a No Wake requirement.

I too have fished Lake Winona for several years, mostly with the kids for panfish but when the river is high or not cooperative, it is a great little back up lake for bass and panfish. There was one stretch I had last year with at least one bass over 18″ on 8 consecutive trips out, all on plastics.

Too bad I shoot in a trap league on Wednesday nights or I might have to join you guys.

    Nice fish!

Count me in John. Next Wednesday would work for me. Let me know if you need any help getting that boat ready for the big water.

The trolling motor only rule is the tourney rule….the lake in general is “No Wake”, so you can use your big motor at slow speeds.

I fished this tourney for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was a good time (although Mr. Haywood might say differently ). Andy can correct me if I’m wrong, but I beileve take off is at 6 and goes until 8:30-9ish (what ever is decided at take off). I think they average around 10 boats.

Lots of big fish in that lake…..It usually takes a couple 3-4#ers to win.

I’d fish the tourney more myself if I would ever get around to buying a bigger trolling motor . If any of you guys ever want to come up, let me know and I can show ya around .

Trolling motor only is our tournament rule. We always start the tournament at 6:00 and then usually go to what everyone decides on. If I am right the tournaments usually keep going till the end of sept.

Glad to hear you guys are coming down, the more boats the better. The water on the lake is really dirty right now, you guys probably can’t handle that. haha

yep they will be fishing tonight. I will not be fishing it tonight, but will try to make it for the weighin.
Yes you will need a livewell or what will work is a cooler with an aerator. Some guys use that in there flatbottoms.
    Good luck guys!!
