I’m not sure how to start this, but i’ve recently come across some information that really kind of ticks me off…

I’m not going to get into details, but if like to PM and email and basically talk about others behind their back, please feel free to call me if you the OO enough to do so. 608-317-4136.

For those of you who like to discuss things like our “sub-par band of misfits Lifting Skirts” fishing club and attack our personal character, I ask you to please call to share your sentiments with me. You know who you are.

    Thank You.

I do, but it’s just because you bass guys race around in boats like maniacs!!! Just kidding. I for one, love all the BS that you guys push back and forth on each other. I wish I had enough guys in the west metro to do a similar weekly league event. I also appreciate that you keep your info all in one post. So whomever is hatin’ ya, is just being childish.

If this is about me picking BC and not you in the JL Fantasy League, I’m sorry

I thought I better clear my name before the speculation begins. I live 3 hours away. There is no way I am interested in driving over on a Wednesday to fish for a few minutes… Doen’t make much since here. Heck I might as well just give them all 50 bucks and save myself some money even if I did win.

Slop, if it’s not such a big deal, then why make something out of it by posting what you did. Address the situation accordingly with PM’s and such.

Here’s my take on what’s happening in this Bass Forum. I am being truthful.

As far as JL goes, for me it has gotten stale and redundant. I’m sure it’s all good for the guys that fish it, but it has removed much of the allure to the Bass Forum. There’s nothing educational or special about it. Maybe if you guys that fish JL posed some questions such as to why the bite is the way it is or ‘how would you adress this….’. Something that would prove fruitful and thought provoking. The Good Lord knows it’s been a less than spectacular year for Bass fishing. Especially on pool 7. Like I said, it is far from thought provoking and educational and has become boring to me. Granted, I don’t have to read the posts, but as a Moderator I feel obligated to do so. I have nothing to hide, and if that makes me a ‘Hater’, then so be it.

I am no hater, and this is in no way aimed at Slop Bass,(who is a great guy) in fact I have enjoyed much of the banter that goes back and forth with JL, but the point quoted above from Blue Fleck has been on my mind a long time.
The sharing of information had been the best part for me.
Of late if you ask a question too many seem to think that all I am interested in is their secret “Honey hole”.
I believe, but am not positive, that this site started with the intention of sharing information. Of late there seems to be little of that going on and I do find myself spending much less time here because of this.
For all I know I may be part of the problem, perhaps I need to ask more pointed questions or be more persistent. I found it refreshing to see BigFish679 talking about where he was and what he was using to catch fish.
I have always tried to give as solid of information as possible and will continue to do so.
I am not trying to come off as a whiner, but I truly think that if the current trend continues that the site will slowly loose much of its audience, and this would be a shame.
Sorry I fell off the original topic and will now step off my soapbox.
    How bout it.

I’m not a hater and am an avid tournament angler. For what it’s worth, what I see mostly on this forum is not informational. Tournament anglers seem to always want the upper hand (Me included), and techniques and areas are modestly discussed or not at all. With the number of tournaments that happen on a weekly basis, their is little talk of winning strategies and how to apply them. With the bassfisherman “bashing” that has shown up here, we all offend somebody, including wavemakers, jet skis, treehuggers, fisherman, and all who use this wonderful river. It seems like our world is turning into “WHAT ABOUT ME” attitude. Everyone has a right to their opinion but in the same breath, so does your other fellow river users. The episode with the Ranger 205 in the fog is really understandable if you put yourself in both peoples positions. I know this guy and E’ron and neither one would personally try to hurt someone on the river and I can understand the “sorry” remark by Matt because some things just happen and then we try to correct them. If I had a dollar for everytime I thought I was threatened by a fellow boater, I wouldn’t have to play the lottery. Try going to Tonka or some of the other Twin City lakes and you’ll find out what crowded is. People drive right next to you all day long with huge and small boats. It’s one of those things you just need to adapt to. Just some thoughts running through the skull! Thanks Fishnut

I think we may need a group hug.

I believe you’re right about sharing information to other’s about fishing patterns/techniques and we may have gotten away from that. I do think though resorting to name calling or criticizing the club and/or its members for not sharing information or whatever the reason may be is childish and not needed. So please either keep it to yourself or we can work it out in person.

Tom, I was telling Bomber that what he said wasn’t that big of a deal.

As for the rest of your post, you’r probably right, maybe we have gotten away from what our fish were caught on. That’s something we can fix

What “allure” is here period? Once the tournament season’s start, the posts and reports all but end…All I try to do is at least keep something out here for people to read….b/c w/the exception of younger guns like Bigfish, not much gets posted here during the summer months. You mentioned above about posing questions on why the bite was this or that….Well don’t let me hold anyone back from ASKING those questions. You want to know or PROVOKE good conversation….ASK! You know I sit here all day and am more than willing to type stuff up.

If you guys want more from our JL thread or the BASS forum…I urge you to be PRO-ACTIVE about it. If that makes me a “hater”, then so be it.

Well as a walleye man I mostly come in here to find out where not to fish so as I don’t accedently snag one of those garbadge fish. All I have to say about the subject is that if you don’t have any more worries than what the bass fishermen do/don’t do then ya really got it made.

I, for one, appreciate the smack-talk. It’s probably one of the highlights of the bass forum.

Anyone who wants to pretend that info gets freely shared, or ever has, in the bass forum needs to go back and wade through the posts from about the last 7 years or so. From the time when FTR first went to separate forums, the bass forum has always been a urinary olympiad of who’s got the fastest boat, who’s on the biggest fish, braggin’ and pictures of braggin’ people with braggin’ fish.

JL sounds like a fun after-work outing. Beats the crap out of Golf (You listening Brian?), and if it were anywhere within 30 miles of home, I’d be there every week just to catch nuthin’ and drink a beer afterward. A little competition and smack talkin’ among friends is just good, clean fun and is as American as Mom and Pecan Pie.

I took my public beating once this week so I have to question myself before I type this but here goes. First off for my end of things I am sorry, my temper got the best of me and that sometimes happens. I am not proud of what I said or how I did it but I was angry and for the most part still am but I realize I was wrong in my approach. I was very angry and lashed out. My point got lost in the personal attacks and for that I am sorry.

Now on the topic at hand, I know nothing of what was said nor do I even totally understand what JL is all about and I am on the site often. But having just had this happen to me perhaps the person or persons at hand lashed out over something different then you understand. Perhaps that person(s) are being misunderstood. Often on this and every website and in society in general there is violent and quick defense of “my team.” Before anything is totally understood or even the right questions are asked. I have seen this from my side and it isn’t always pretty. Ask the guys before this post goes to far. JL might end up being in the wrong. Perhaps! Perhaps these person(s) are just plain mean and are out to say bad things, consider both sides!

Just my two cents. I’ve been on the other side once.

That’s what i was doing, advising for them to call me…

this is water under the bridge now….I didn’t want a bash thread to happen or anything….We’ll live.

    Keep fishing
