Fortunately the Bucketmouthes put on a show for Joe and Andrew today my guide customers. Joe topped the day with nice square , plump 5 1/2 pounder. We ended up again today with 40-50 bass of just about every size. Tube beat the heck out of everything else today. With rattle trap far behind. Had a couple of Nice slop bass near the boat today and saw a bunch of okay ones roll over , too. Joe and Andrew, had there first ever shot at pulling those froggies and rats over the slop and I was pleased they even hooked up. Nice even pattern to day, some fish up in the cuts and ditches, some in the slop and some on the rock points, just out of,(largemouth), and just on the edge of current(smallies). Our guide pages

Are you catching those big boys still in Pool 9? When you say cuts and ditches, what exactly are you referring to? I’m heading over to Lansing this weekend and would sure love to lock up some good largemouth! I’ve heard Minnesota Slough can be good this time of year, is that what you mean by a “cut”?

Hi, Aren’t you guys fishing Saturday and Sunday Team Supreme. Jeremy is Up in Minnesota for the Federation tourney and subs are all used up, so I’m trying to decide whether to fly solo Sunday out of Lax, or should I say with an observer. Considering the quality of competition one against two would probably be a stupid , move. Regarding your question though yesterdays post was about Pool 9. All of the sloughs and lakes(I’m still not sure why they call them lakes),and even islands; have little ditches on their sides and very small little channels and old paths that kind of twist and turn through the sloughlands. The 5 1/2 pounder is,(ofcource it went back), up a running water ditch almost 200 yards out of the lake?, it is on. It takes about 35 minutes to trolling motor your way up through it, since you have to go through shallows, a ton of downed timber, and narrow sections. My 16’6″ Narrow V actually rubs its sides and bottom sometimes, but you never have to leave the boat. Another 8 inch drop in the water and I won’t make it up. Pretty much every little hole and most of the timber have bass on it. If you do more seaching up these little ditches, you will see there is a lot of shade,so don’t forget the biter(insect) spray.
