Northern Water snakes can be very aggressive. http://www.herpnet.net/Minnesota-Herpetology/snakes/N.Watersnake.html I’ve had several encounters on the river were I was “approached” by these things and had to repeatly throw handfulls of sand at them to get them to go the other way.
Man I didn’t realize they were that aggressive. I will definetely pay more attention to them when they come near the boat though. Usually I just ignore them and they go away, but not this one. They are pretty brave snakes it looks like. I also didn’t know that they would bite repeatedly and could cause some damage. Where are the big toothy critters when you want them to eat something.
Ok so Snakes are Part of the Mississippi life style. We are all ok with that.
BUT I’m on the Bay of Green Bay last weekend fishing a little residential cut when one of these little guys (pretty sure it was a bull snale) comes swimming out of the brush straight at the boat. I turn right he turns right.
