    Hey Fellas,

I picked up three 1/4 oz. jigs yesterday in hopes of trying the swimming jig technique. Could anyone give me some insight into this technique? Do I just reel it like it’s a spinnerbait and lift the rod up and down to give it action? I want to try throwing it around brush, drop offs, and rocky banks…am I on track with my thinking here or no?

    Thanks for any insight!

    G,
Do a search on swim jigs from this site. You will find more archived stuff on how, why, colors etc. than you could ever need!

do the search as mentioned. I think you can do it however you want- experiment based on depth/cover/clarity/etc but ive caught them speed reeling or crawling over slop/pads, reeling like a spinnerbait, “slow rolling” in deeper water. You can experiment with steady, stop and go, lift the rod, etc- basically the possibilities seem endless. Also- http://www.brovarneybaits.com has a section called informative links/articles (cant remember which) on swimming jigs which links to articles by/about swim jig masters (ie. champman, monsoor, howell, etc). Best i can tell you is get out and try it- it works!
