Finsally was able to get out and try my luck. And that must have been what I had becuase we cuaght a boat load of fish for this time of year. In two hours we caught well over a dozen fish. Some beeing three pounds. Though tubes and swimming jigs worked, White spinners were the ticket big time. They were slamming them. We even had a double. All the fish came out of a 200 yard stretch of tracks where the fish were sunbathing in about 2-4 feet of water. The pics are on a different sight. but check em out. They all look the same but that is becuase they are all the same spot. Going out again tonight. hopefully i’ll have more pics.

Well…. what can I say. We had a great day on the water but it wasn’t a great day for duracell. O well we managed to get about the first fifteen minutes of fishing in on camera The fishing yesterday was unbelievable for this time of year. We pull up to THE SPOT and I’m alittle nervous because I was talking the spot up so much to my friend and was worried it’d be a flop. Well on my third cast I stuck a decent smallie. The following cast I Nailed a 3.7 and as he was putting the net away I caught another nice fish. Three fish in three casts I was in heaven. We proceeded to work our way up the bank where fishing was great. Again later up the bank I caught two in two casts. Another highlight was where a spring came in we doubled on Near three pounders and basically tripled when my friend got another on the very next cast. We were only out for under two hours (darn night classes)but we boated at least twenty keepers and not more than four or five were under fourteen. We were using the same method of slow rolling white spinnerbaits. But also jerked some cranks in deeper water, where the big ones were. Sorry about some of the pics. I can’t COMPLETELY give away my spot. Also I should be out again tonight for Awhile. Hope everyone has good luck, just not in the same spot as me

Subtle Slop! Man it’s nice to be back in LaCrosse!! The particular area that seems to be portrayed in Nature Boy’s pics is where I (and probably many of us) cut my bass fishing teeth as a kid. We used to ride our bikes down there and fish all day. Looking back I am amazed at the sheer numbers of fish we caught back in those days!!
I spent a few hours probing around down there about a week ago and had similar results as NB- found a few isolated pockets with concentrations of fish and a few quality bites. My fish came on spinnerbaits, mid 1-minus cranks, and a 78-Pointer.

    SCC:

We used to walk down there in college too. Some springs it was unreal the number and size of bass you could catch from shore.

One time I shot a Goose next to that Island near the Shady area by the Maple , but it is a secret spot so I can’t tell you about it

All your guy’s hands are RED and obviously you were raised in a barn.

Well if anyone cares to know the bite is still on at shady. Size, no, numbers yes. With warmer water temps I’ve had to switch over to more subtle presentations like cranks and jigs. At least the water is warming well and my other fish are picking up.

Good numbers again today and a few decent fish thrown in. I agree that the spinnerbait bite has slowed- the fish today were right up on the bank and seemed more interested in a tube or REALLY slow chrt/white swim jig. Plus, for those of you who want to pick your way back in there, there are a couple stretches in the Duck Projects that are on fire right now. I won’t be likely to fish it anymore because I barely got in there and had even more trouble getting out!

I also agree on the duck project bite. I fish out of a flat so I don’t have much difficulty gettin around. There are also some fish coming about in marcos bay (if thats what it’s called) back near the towers. Fewer fish but better size. SCC- what day did you get them tight to the bank? Wed night I was out and found them out further in the trough due to the falling water level. I should get out tonight for a bit. I’ll post what I find.
