Where’s my sloppy bass?

Fished Pool 10 this morning concentrating on weeds and slop. In about 4 hours of fishing I only had about two blows with neither hooking up. Finally left the weeds and started fishing wood. I was catching a few flipping until I came to a stretch of wooded bank with overhanging branches full of barge flies. In about a 20 yard stretch managed to land somewhere around 15 to 20 bass. Bass and I think bluegills were busting the flies on top continuously while I was fishing. Has anyone else had trouble finding fish in the slop this year? I was wondering if they might move out of weeds onto wooded banks during hatches like these. Most fish I caught ranged from about 12 to 17 inches.

I fished near PdC on Wednesday and worked some rocks and flipped some wood without much luck. the fish flies were thick in one spot, but I couldn’t buy a bite there. Did hit some bass in current areas. Before the river went up a couple of weeks ago a nice slop bite was just getting going. I hammered some bass in lilly pads one day around 11:00. I have better luck in slop closer to noon and in the afternoon. The pads are pretty messy to get into though because they grew when the river was about 10 ft. and the stems are long when the river is lower. You might be right about them following the hatch. I also saw gobs of baitfish almost everywhere yesterday.
