For you guys with SF Curados and Chronarchs (or any other reel that has a lo-mass or wiffle spool)- when you put on line do you tie it around the entire spool or through two of the holes on the wiffle spool??? I have always tied it through two holes on my SFs and Chronarchs just because it’s easier, but I want to be sure I’m not affecting reel performance. Just picked up my one new Chronarch for the year and man is the new B sweet!!!

I tie around the spool, not through the holes. However, I doubt that tying through the holes would change the performance much if any. If the line through the center creates a performance issue, then the knot on one side must create an even bigger balance issue! Next thing you know…we’ll be tying 4 knots all 90 degrees from each other to create a perfectly balanced spool.

I just do it the other way to stay consistent with my non-wiffle spools.

Just as d-nort says… I tie around the whole spool, too. Though, perhaps you are onto something…
