Backwaters Open????

    Guys, are the backwaters around Wabasha open yet. I would love to fish this weekend if they’re open.

    Around here, as of today the only backwaters that are open are the ones that have current moving through.

    Most of the backwater lakes still have walkable ice on them .

    Could change by this weekend

    the only backwaters around wabasha as of yesterday that were open were like jake said the ones with the current. as far as walkable ice, it looks like its starting to break up and there are some decent sized holes in the sheets of ice that are still out there. ide say give it another week and hope for a warm rain. o besides, there isnt any fish in the backwaters ne ways…

    I don’t know about that stretch, but they’re talking a 2′ increase in water depth (on pool 10) by monday. That’ll move all the ice out….plus 65 degree weather helps too.
