What do you guys know about this new Super Bass called the Tiger Bass? There’s an nice article this month’s BassMaster’s Magazine. I’m still reading it over, but what do you guys think about using science to create the ultimate predator Bass?

Just what we need…a REALLY invasive, invasive species I believe messing with nature is a ba-a-a-a-ad thing to do (sorry Dolly)

What I read between the lines was… if you can’t make the angler smarter… make the fish dumber…

Some hybrids have been wonderful for the sport. Im not sure this will be one of them.

The other part of this argument was that the fish were more aggressive, and grew at about twice the normal rate of “normal” bass

The nature of the article(to me…) seemed that these bass were exclusivly for private ponds and fisheries and also for non-expierenced anglers. It would be great for kids and such, but do we really need it? I am like the rest of you in that, I want to go out each day and catch 50 bass, but do we really need to make the bass dumb to do it or do we need to adjust tactics to make the bass we already know bite? Anyways, the idea is to not allow any cross breeding of the species, but you know somewhere down the road it will happen. They also commented on the fact that if they (tiger) crossbread with other spicies it will lose some of it’s distinct characteristics such as weight gain, overall size, and aggression. With that said, I would love to have a day in that pond!

This question is so complex that it is pointless to even start. Its more like wether or not we want to create the “happy meal” for fishing or not because these types of solutions / breakthroughs are just that. Have it your way… and then thats all you will have.

If this ever really takes off, I wonder if this would be a stocking option in lakes that are over run with stunted bluegills as a predator fish rather than northern pike or muskies? It does make you wonder though if this is a good thing or a bad thing….
