Hello, boys and girls !
Ok, I’m sure we’ve all been doing our home work this winter, hunkering down in the recliner, sipping adult beverages (I’ll just take a soda) and reading Bassmaster magazine; if you’ve been keeping up, you’ll have come across an article about Briery Creek, just East of Farmville, VA.
Well, since that article was published, I’ve been gettin’ phone calls, asking if I’ve been there as of yet. We’ll I hadn’t until this past Sunday…
Air temp: 62 degrees.
Water temp: 40-43 degrees.
Conditions: light breeze and sunny.
Lure: green pumkin french fry, 1/8oz bullet weight, 3/0 hook and 10lb Trilene XT (Sorry, but I got tired of P-brain breakin’ on me).
Result: one 6.65lb Florida strain largemouth bass. Yep I had a woody too!
Small cove about the size of the lot Slopbass lives on, stading timber around the perimeter of the cove and about out to ten feet in the water.
I was fishing the outside perimeter of the timber, bumpin into a number of brush piles when I thought I got hung up… Well I pulled a bit, and it pulled back. It fought a bit, but not like in spring.
I’ll have the photos up soon.
That’s, so far, the largest bass of my life.
If’in yous guys wanna come down, hey, let me know. I’ll put ya up, and I’ll take ya there.
Thanks,
OTW
