I’ve looked around and didn’t find them either. The WI DNR doesn’t do contour maps of rivers due to the changing depths from season to season. I’d imagine the Army Corp of Engineers don’t take time to make contour maps due to the same issues.

It sure is amazing to see a 12 ft hole fill in to be only a 4 ft hole in a couple of years.

Anyway here are the navigation maps from 2001.

That ia a very good point. The site I sent is only as good as the updates. The images (from what I been told) are taken from the air every 3 – 4 years. It is a good tool to take with you for a start in the pool you want to fish. They don’t show a good contour but, They sure give a person a good start bye showing deep holes. The maps have helped me find fish.

Thanks for all the replys and good information.

I contacted Public Relations at the Corp earlier. I figured they must know where the wing dams are and have them mapped out… The DNR offices had nothing.

    Thanks again!

The navigation maps mentioned above have all of the navigation hazards along the main channel like wingdams and such mapped out and they are extremely accurate.

Also, if you have a GPS the cards from Navionics have these charts included in the “Navigatable Rivers” card or on the Premium northern region card.

Is still have the old hotspots maps if you want copys I would help you out, I find them very usefull still even if the backwaters have changed a good deal since they were last made. Also if you contact them they still might have a few copies around they are as thick as a fishing magazine full of info and maps…

Posting to this topic to update it.

Link to ACOE navigational charts has changed to this

    http://www.mvr.usace.army.mil/Missions/Navigation/NavigationCharts/UpperMississippiRiver.aspx

Also…some small lakes that are part of those Mississippi River pools can be found by using the MNDNR Lakefinder.

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/index.html

For example, checking Dakota County (Hastings)…

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/search.html?name=&county=19

Lake Rebecca has a depth map

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/lake.html?id=19000300

There are others too…you gotta search by County.

Finally, the Navionics webapp shows depths for the River.
