I’m with Moss Boss on this one, but I rarely go smaller than 3/0. Owner cutting point hooks in wide gap. If not fishing wood I’ll bend it out to increase the hookup most of the time.
Do you guys that use Gammy’s notice the hook points bending or breaking off after a while? This started happening alot to me when using gammy’s a few years back, so I switched.
i do notice it with gami’s bending happens generally when i get a fish in the top of the head so good that i got to use pliars to get it out i just cut the hook and chuck it
i never use a hook in a tournoment thats been on my rod before
i keep using these hooks cause i get great penetration dont and it dont punch a big hole in the lip so they can get off
i have used alot of other brands and lost alot of fish with both cause they dont react well with my hook setting style
oh i use 4 ot ewg for tubes also a 5/0 g lock on ocassion
Yup… they do bend after awhile… especially after you set the hook into a nice piece of wood!
I buy them by the 50 pack… much cheaper per hook. I generally use a new hook before a tourney, otherwise, I just bend them back until, like you say, they break!
BUT, they are a fine-wire hook, as opposed to the heavier Owner. Lighter fall. RAZOR sharpness, and solid quality. At the end of the day… its confidence!
…do any of you guys have trouble with these wide gaps hooking fish way back in the top of the mouth and coming out by the fishes eyes? That’s what scares me about using these things!
..Yes, that is exactally right, it generally happens on smaller fish. Will be harder to catch that small fish I just released, when I am fishing next year if it only has one eye…Anyone know of a way to avoid it?
Shaw Grisby hook,it has a clip on it to hold the tube, you can fish it texas rig or the gizit rig that the weight is in the tube and the clip also holds the weight,it is the best to use when fishing weight-less,I use 3/0 it is made by eagle claw.
