New to MN and our first club tournament is out of Bass Camp for Pools 5 and 5A on May 11. I have fished the river 1 time…….EVER, and didn’t do worth squat. ANY help on river fishing, especially anything specific to this area would be much appreciated. What should I expect??? I’m also a boater so any tips on boating the river would be also appreciated.

5a now thats my pool. Lots of nice bass in this section of water. Lot’s of back waters and snags. Right around that time the fishing should be great. Your best bet would be to get a good map and study hard. Lots of closing dams and hidden wingdams on the back waters so use caution when running out of the channel.

Run down the river to Fountain City, go around the channel marker into Fountain City bay and start fishing up the back water. Great places all over, but this is always our favorite starting point.

it’s faster if you run through keigle horse slough (sp.) Just alittle ways down from 5 and saves you alot of time running. You come out right by the state park. Charles let me know if you want to run aroud this pool and i can show you some short cuts. Or anyone else that is.

Just be careful as you make the turn into the slough since it’s dead shallow accross the mouth.
