Interesting article in today’s LaCrosse Tribune.

    http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2004/06/09/outdoors/02third.txt

Reading the article spurred my memory… I think it was last year, but it could have been the prior year… Fishing the Catfish Days Bass Tourney, one of the place finishers was using Willow Cats for Smallies… Apparantly that is one Bass Tourney you can still use live bait… Strange.

Anyway, do many other bass angler use these?

    Anyone else remember the story?

Sometimes leeches work great for smallies. I have only caught two ever on willow cats walleye fishing, but I bet both were 4 pounds plus.

I use willow cats. They are a great bait for a variety of fish. What I think has been accomplished by the DNR is a joke. I hope they soon realize their error and get a grip.

Realistically, there are LOTS of other issues that need tending to OTHER than the legality of using a 4″ fish for bait.
