Went around checking things out today. Did one of my shore fishing things just to realize the only way to it with a boat no longer exists…ouch. Oh well I caught one nice bass and also a nice walleye. Then pretty much wasted the afternoon trying to find a way to it. If you remember hearing about the pros that carry a chain saw in prefishing… I would have needed a chain saw, a large amount of dynamite, and a dredge.

Anyway fish I got today were on tube and the bite was extremely finicky for full moon time??? I know somebody somewhere is slamming them, but right now I’m stumbling into one here or there. Conditions all point to two or three areas, but after throwing everything in the tackle box at them at those locations I still have had miserable results.

What a difference a week makes. More importantly we had very similar conditions about the same time last year and with very few exceptions the reaction of the fish is totlaly different. I think today the most telling comment anybody made was that with the bizarre late spring we have had makes it unbelievable that any fish are biting at all.

Coming form a bait shop owner and a marina manager that came from serious thought, and probably some big hurt in the pocket book.

BUUUUT, I have learned the hard way that the fish are biting and cooperating with someone somewhere. But I have the uncomfortable feeling that I am the only one they aren’t cooperating with!! If I was fishing a tourney tommorrow I would probably park at one spot that gives up a fish or two and then goes dead for a while hoping that they circle in enough times to get a respectable weight.

I’m sure that my partner.. my wife would really enjoy that!!!!!
