Why does Team Supreme have a 6 fish limit when other events seem to favor 5? This seems to be one of the best and most competitive events going. Many times a good percentage of the field brings in a limit. Are there a lot of fish being displaced during spawning season that could be released or culled where they are caught? I do know that Team Supreme takes great pride in their survival rate and fish handling so I’m really not concerned about mortality. They’re also using a release boat at most events. I guess my problem is that it is hard to quickly compare weights to other tournaments when you don’t know if it’s a 5 or 6 fish limit.

Team Supreme 6 fish limit?

I am not sure where a limit of 5 became the norm. I know Iowa has a 5 fish per person limit so individual tourneys are obviously 5. Many MN tournaments are 8 fish. Next weekends Bobs bait and tackle I think is still 8 fish.
Teamsupreme is 6. BWS is 5 I think. They are all over the board. I am sure each have there reasons.
jcBIGDADDY280Posts: 64May 17, 2004 at 6:23 pm #305085J.C., I think I will take this one!! Team Supreme takes a very aggressive approach to Tourney limits. Two team members 3 fish for each. 5 fish limits bring the field to close together, and creates odd fractions for those states looking to regulate tournament via the dreaded “no-cull” senario! The argument of transplanting fish from pool to pool is very bad information. Fact, Fish migrate! swim at approx. 27mph and can relocate within hours. They swim through the dams regularly. I heard as recently as yesterday, a “local” complaining of anglers(tourn), Moving bedded fish! I returned the verbal fire with this little quip. Lawrence Lake Sat. watch 3 flatbottoms filled with “locals” taking bedding fish with leaches and bobbers, not to metion their final destination, Lake Coleman 108 Qt. cooler. 100% guarantee, those fish WILL NOT re-locate. I guess the conversation ended when he turned and walked away. I am a strong proponent of education! Tourney angler, week-end anglers and misinformed public. Lets get the correct info!!! We owe it to everyone to be accurate with the information. We need to be more pro-active with limits, I have found giving easy to read and understand information is the most prolific way to keep our lawmakers happy. Complicate the situation you will might as well forget it!! Thanks BD280

May 18, 2004 at 12:32 am #305120Please don’t consider my question a criticism of Team Supreme. I think it’s one of the best, if not the best, circuits out there. They do everything possible to keep the fish and the fishermen happy. I was just curious to know if there was a reason for 6 fish rather than 5.
BIGDADDY280Posts: 64May 18, 2004 at 2:08 pm #305191Team Supreme surveyed key opponents of tourney angling. We found that most of the pressure is coming from lake assoc. groups.Anglers come in all shapes and sizes, plus all walks of life. It does not help when anglers disseminate faulty info. and are a part of the assoc.!! T.S. took high ground and tried to eliminate the major issues surrounding limits. Lawmakers and politicians LOVE compromise. T.S. suggested 6 fish with 2 anglers and that seemed to settle even the “hard-liners”.It seemed reasonable to assume with limits per angler higher per liscense, it was better for the enviroment of nature as well as politics,to settle on 6. This also sqwelched the “no-cull” faction arguement of, depleting resources needlessly. T.S. wants to be a part of the solution certainly not a part of the problem. Your comments are well appreciated and allow folks to understand more about all the moving parts of tournament trails. Please keep questions coming that will help all to learn. BD280

No, you won’t have those 11lb limits. You’ll have oodles of 15 & 16lb limits.
