I headed down to the Team Supreme weigh-in this afternoon at Clinton Street in LaCrosse…

    Nice fish, gentlemen!

Winning weight just over 21, I believe.

Champman, you remain tops… with no pre-fishing, fishing the Chetek tourney Saturday, and you show up and still weigh-in 19+… Impressive!

Crawford/Blue – Nice showing… I think I say 17+ for you! Quite impressive showing, as well. Tried to find you to say “hello”, but must have just missed you.

Tom Monsoor and Ed Stellner were there, too. Only weighed 10+. Still, nice going Tom and Ed. Which brings me to my next point…

Skeets, talk about pressure to find big fish. Tom Monsoor has cashed ~$80,000 this year and needs a solid placement at Lake Champlain to qualify for the classic. His fan’s hopes were clearly that such an accomplished fisherman would be tops on the boards today… But, he struggled. This goes to show you (or at least me) that even the fishing’s best have tough days… And, I do not want to sell the others that particpated short, the competition is tough and those fishing today are good.

Blue/Crawford/Champman – good luck at Prairie next month.

The numbers, the horsepower, the comraderie, and the general execution of the tourney was enjoyable. Clearly, and impressive circuit.

We did better than 17 lbs… Try 18.69 and fourth place just ahead of jimmy. By the way, was that you with the dog at the weigh in? Tom were not sure but we kinda thought.

Yep, 18.69 for 5th. 18.75 for 4th. If we could have only gotten one more good bite the fat lady would have sung early.

Shoot! Sorry, JC/Blue! Never want to sell a man short of his “bag”…

Sincerely, I must have read the board wrong – NICE job! The competition was certain out there in force, and a 4th place finish is respectable, something to be proud of, and impressive on all accounts. Nice job on cashing a check! Something I hope to do someday.

And, yup… that was me with my wife, boy, and STUBBORN Chesapeake Bay Retriever! Man, she was irritating me today… The thing about Chessie’s… GREAT family dogs. Amazing hunters, atheletes, and retrievers. BUT the are obsessive about serving… The other kids throwing rocks into the river was torture for her… and, as a result, for me, too! She wanted to get them all back!

    Side note.
If those fish were caught 2 weeks earlier the weights would have been 5lbs heavier. The smallies we caught were giants but thin and obviously post spawn. For years I have struggled finding them after they left the beds. Well, I guess I know now where they are. I used to think I had to wait 2 weeks and then they would just be in summer pattern. Nope, new I say bring on the postspawn. We only had a 9 good bites to day. We caught a pile of bucks but we quickly left that area.

I have no excuses… Like my wife says, “I’m an Idiot!”

Now, I could say the same… My Gander Mountain Pro Hat with my name embroidered on it should have been obvious to you…

JC – all I can say is, next time, no dog. That will free up my concentration levels to “check out the anglers”

Again, nice job this weekend! Until next time!
