you pull up to ur spot and the water looks good…nice looking pads with the water about two feet…you start trolling and the whole lilly pad field starts shaking and fish take off everywhere stupid carp and dog fish everywhere….anybody catch bass in the type areas or you just leave????
PitBull last year in a small tourny on lake Waciona Mn. we started out with a good dock bite and then headed out to the fisrt break and got nothing going.We later returned to the same docks that had spawning carp turning and churning all under the docks.the dock bite stayed thru out the rest of the tourny. 
an old river tournoment fisherman once told me that if you pull up to a field of bads and you dont hear the sucking sound of carp the pads dont have active fish in them
also when fishing a tournoment years ago on the illinois river the bass were in the trees in the main river but so were the carp you could pitch your bait threw 20 carp feeding on the alge of the trees when it got past the carp there would be a 2 lbs bass under them it was weird trees with no carp didnt have many bass trees with carp had 2 or three bass
