While we are still a couple hours out from knowing I would like to take the time to honor CRBASSER aka Chad Mcdonough.
He is not only my Brother in Law but a friend. He still has to perform well for the next tourney but today is his day.
as of this am he is in 7th place and contrary to many fishermen he did not burn his fish on day one.
If he is not the camp after todays weigh in I will eat my laptop… I think.. -grin-
    Congrats CRbasser.

JC, Let us know how it turns out when you can. I talked to several of the participants yesterday at The Barn, pretty mixed results. Either they were on fish or they weren’t. I heard of a couple very big smallies one of which is in Cabela’s tank now.

1st and 2nd place were a tie at 29.47, and I finished 3rd with 29.42, 4th was 28.something, then tailing off down the line. There were a lot of nice fish brought in both days, big bass on sat. was a 4.5 lb smallie, and sunday I had a 4.4 smallie but was edged out by a 4.7 largie. I weighed in the heaviest limit of the 2 day event with 16.72 bag of smallies on sunday . I was 2 lbs behind the leader after day one and hadn’t touched my bigger fish spots yet (I had 4 of them), and thought if I brought in 2 lbs more then that on sunday I would be in good shape to win. We took off from 10, and I locked up to 9 both days, so getting back through the lock was in the back of my mind most of the time. I went to a different spot then my big fish spots the first day and caught 5 over 2 lbs each and then left after 45 min. ended up with 12.70 lbs. Day two brought a cold front and running through a sleet/snow storm, hoping it turned off the largies. I went back to the same spot as the first day to get a quick limit, because I had hardly touched it the first day. After about 1 1/2 hours I had a 2.25 avg. limit, and then proceeded to my first big fish spot. They were there feeding and in 20 min. I had put 4 in the boat over 3 lbs, and figured I had between 16 and 17 lbs and enough to win. It was about 10:00 at this time and the getting through the lock thing was getting to me since I passed 3 barges on the way up and the first the I figured it would hit the lock between 8:00 and 9:00 and was a double toe. I then decided that I had to had enough to win it and thought I’d better be getting back since I had a long run. Well I had to wait about 1 hr for that double toe to finish up and the next one had just rounded the last corner. I got through the lock and you know the rest of the story. I am a little dissappointed, but I think I made good decisions, and am pleased to be in great postion to finish well in the point standings after the fall tourny, and qualify for divisionals.

Good job and good post, CRBasser! I can’t blame you at all on the locking back down. There’s nothing worse than having a good limit and being locked out.

Nicely done Chad. Just missed you at the weigh in. Talked to a few people that said you had very nice bags of fish both days. Congradulations and good luck in the Fall Tourney.

Thanks everybody. I would also like to formally thank the IDA guys for all the good info here on the boards, it has really helped me improve as angler. I would especially like to thank JC , he has really helped me learn about the bass’ behaviors and movements, and over the last 2 years opened my eyes to the phenominal smallmouth fishing and how to fish for them. Doug, I haven’t seen or heard about you in a while, nice to see you are still rippin lips. I hope things are going well. I thought it was you, so I had to look up to make sure I was thinking of the right one. Thanks again everybody, you guys

I don’t know who you’re talking about . I was referring to smallies on the 2 year figure, but yeah we have been chasing largemouth for 10 to 12 years. That’s when I unleashed the beast
